St Thomas is the CLEAR favorite right now. Somebody else might beat them, but it would be an upset. Olaf once again doesn't look all that great, and Augsburg is coming on strong. Greeno, Eckstrom, and Haglund all running really well in terms of individuals.
i would agree that st. thomas is the favorite, but i don't think you can say it's overwhelming. yes, they beat a ranked johns hopkins team, but if jhu actually ran their varsity then they shouldn't have been ranked in the first place (their #1 guy was 30th overall). every team in the conference has a serious lack of depth, and the tommies are no exception-- if their #5 struggles they have a huge gap to #6. i still think it's wide open, and i would not be surprised if the winning team at conference scored well over 100 points.
it will probably come down to who is actually healthy in two weeks. don't put too much stock in st. john's performance at jim drews; they never seem to run well there. if st. olaf actually had all five guys run well on the same day, they could be pretty good, but that's a big if. augsburg and hamline benefited from putting guys up front at jim drews, but that impact will be limited in a smaller meet. i wouldn't be surprised if any one of those five teams won, and i also wouldn't surprised if any of them got fifth. i'm guessing it will be one of those meets where you watch the top 50 finish and still have no idea what happened.
