Congrats. My post was a reply to some idiot mentioning Nova on this thread along with the 'rest of the Philly A10 teams' - Nova is not an A10 team.Overall you can not compare the programs. One is one of the most storied programs in American collegiate T&F history and St. Joes is not.

Dontcha mean Irish collegiate T&F history???
hahaahhahahhahahahaha Get it? ahaha Get it? IRISH collegiate history! Because all the top guys are IRISH! hhahahahahahahh
hoot hoot,
You're back. Sadly again you are sounding like an A-hole. Villanova is in American, not Ireland. That would make them one of the most storied programs in American collegiate T&F history regardless of where their athletes come from.
I am not sure why I am even responding to you - you are a complete tool. I guess I am just bored.
Tully - All-American this year is from NY - in AMERICA
Gibney - All-American this year is from Australia - NOT IRELAND
Blincoe - He was hella good - he was from New Zealand - NOT IRELAND
Bobby Curtis - Kinda Good - he was from Kentucky, in AMERICA
A10 XC FAN,
Wow. You are an idiot. Stop posting on this thread.
1) It was a joke
2) i am well aware of the fact that Villanova is in America
3) It was a joke in reference to the Irish pipeline
4) My bad I should have said Ireland and Anzac collegiate history
5) Gibney - NOT AMERICA
6) Blincore - NOT AMERICA
7) Have you added anything constructive to this thread?
8) I have.
9) I broke the Penetar rumor.
9) You haven't.
10) Stop sounding like like a D-Ass.
I'd just like to point out that although Temple is much better than they were three years ago - they aren't good. No way they can challenge UMASS, Lasalle, St Joes, Charlotte, Richmond, Duquesne, and even Dayton this year. They had no guys place in the top five in anything at the outdoor championships and only three guys score total. One ran 30:57 for 5th in the 5k, and one ran 1:52.9 for 6th in the 800, and the other 9:16 for 7th in the steeple. They had nobody else under 15:40, 32:00, 4:00 or 9:30. How does that make a good cross team?
So let's look at the real contenders (in order of last year's finish)
UMASS - They graduate two of their top five but top ten finisher and 14:20 guy Pierce is back as are top twenty finishers Maranjo and Mulvaney. They were also really deep as their 9th guy finished 32nd (and then the Johnson twins went on to break 31:00 outdoors). I think they are the clear early favorite.
Duquesne - Probably hit hardest by graduation as they lose Dutille and Eddy up front as well as #3 at conferences Sarver. But Stolar ran 29:35, Van Koosten is back (20th last year), and then ?? They've been so strong the last 4 years that it's hard to seem them slipping too much but top 3 would be a great year.
Richmond - Seniors Llano and Benford form the best 1-2 combo up top (2nd and 4th last year). Llano ran 29:06 or something in the spring while Benford took home 2 A-10 titles. After that Quinn is a solid 3rd 30:21 and Grandt was one of the better freshmen in the conference last year. But who is their fifth (Wilson was 36th last year)? And if one guy has a bad day who steps up? If everyone is healthy they are a top three team but it's hard to see them matching the depth of UMASS.
Charlotte - Dentamu is the defending champ and they return five of their top six from last year. Rickard, who was 29th last year, is their next top finisher, and they also have Eckard, Lowery, and Brotherston (all top 50). I give them little chance of winning and unless they can develop a a dependable #2 and have a freshman or two contribute right away they probably won't be much better than 4th or 5th.
LaSalle - It's hard to believe they were 5th a year ago and I think they lose Edwards to graduation (unless they work their redshirt magic again). On paper they really aren't that good, but they ran a lot of freshmen last year and it's hard to see them being out of the top 3 two years in a row. They have decent depth but need some big dogs up front (Rainford)?
Dayton - Really? Dayton? I have a hard time thinking of them as a legit team. But Lemon + Lemon + Anderson means they'll have a big lead through three. And then? (Crickets). They better A. hope nobody gets hurt and B. have the best freshmen class in the conference. Otherwise they won't beat last year's finish.
St Joes - After a couple down years the program seems to have righted itself a bit. Guterl and Schlafani give them two returning all-conference performers but Rowland graduates and Jennings was their only other guy in the top 50. Does Murray still have eligibility?
So I'll say...
1. UMASS - Comfortable win
2. Richmond - just enough
3. LaSalle - I think they'll put it together
4. St Joes - 2nd if Murray is back and probably 6th or 7th if he isn't so I'll split the difference.
5. Duquesne - Probably selling them short
6. Charlotte - I'm not a believer
7. Dayton - It takes 5
8. Temple - May could be All-Conference
9. Xavier - Kauffman is good
10. Who cares?
sigh. I guess I must bring this thread back on track.
Team Competition (Male)
1) SJU / Temple / Richmond / UMASS / Duquesne / LaSalle
2) Everyone but Charlotte and St. Bonaventure

Villanova isn't a part of the A10 Conference.
Nowhere did I say they were. I just said Philly is getting crowded. If you went to a decent school maybe you would have some reading comprehension.

Well, considering how this is the A10 XC thread, why even bring up Villanova? Just because they are in the Philly area doesn't mean you can compare two completely difference conferences together. Who cares if "Philly is getting crowded"? You might as well complain about how "crowded" Boston is with Harvard, BU, BC, and Northeastern.
I think you need to learn on how to stay on-topic within the thread.

yeah you tell him. you totally lecture him on going off topic by taking it further off topic. Nice.
freeknowledge, very good post. I would rank Duquesne and St. Joes a little higher up though.
Dayton hasn't been much of a contender in the past however the day they get a 4th and 5th man they are going to be nasty.
La Salle I am predicting will make a comeback. I don't know what happened to them last year but there is no way Torpey is going to let that happen again.
Charlotte, besides Dentamo they don't really have anyone and it takes more than one person to carry a team. For them being out of the top 3 is inexcusable with the amount of resources they have but it has happened year in and year out.
UMass is definitely the clear favorite and I think will probably come out on top next year as they have been getting better and better as time progresses.
Richmond should be good also. They have Benford and Llano and 3 other guys who are sub 31.
And this talk about Temple is ridiculous. They have one guy who ran sub 31 which is a solid time but is nowhere near the level of the top runners in the conference. They also don't have a 2-5 guys and that is going to hurt them.
Anyways here is how I rank them:
1.UMass
2.St. Joes
3.La Salle
4.Duquesne
5.Richmond
6.Dayton
7.Charlotte
8.Xavier
9.Temple
10.George Washington
11.St. Louis
12.Fordham
13.Rhode Island
14.Saint Bonaventure
you lasalle kids that start this thread are such losers. its a shame that years down the road, when kids from the rest of the schools are actually enjoying their lives and recollecting about their fun nights out in college, you guys will be talking about your splits from a workout and how you could have pushed a long run harder.
i wish you could just see how silly it is getting so involved in this when three years down the road it wont matter more than what you had for breakfast. learn to take it a lil less seriously.
Edwards is not graduating. The reason many people think certain guys are around for so many years is that they start making an impact in the A10 their freshman year. Edwards is only a sophomore in Outdoor Track and is running as USA Nationals! 3:44 is pretty fast. A few years ago a Duquesne guy ran the steeple and Quigley did a great job representing the A10. All the haters should be proud of Edwards representing the A10 USA's. Anyone else make it? Men or women?
i am glad that people that don't make ncaa nationals can make usa nationals, loose standards? and this is the xc thread not the ill only show up for track thread

Aja Jackson (800) and Darius Law (400) from Charlotte are running. Matt Dibuono of Fordham qualified in the hammer but isnt throwing. I didnt se Currie on the start lists for the 100 or 200, but I have to imagine she had, or was close to qualifying. Her times in the 1 and 2 were far superior to a 3:44. Some URI field people probably qualified as well.
edwards does not only show up for track season he has had some solid xc seasons as well so go hate elsewhere, the owl will conquer all
Little off topic but just want to highlight a must read for all you A-10 aficionados.
"The Streak: Paul VI High School Boy's Cross Country Team 240 Consecutive Wins 1980 - 2006." Features SJU's very own MIchael Glavin who was the coach for quite a number of these teams.
i read that book i find it odd that they dont right about how that streak was broken, it is definitly one of the top 1000 books i have ever read, i gotta go run the piss bubbles out of a run

Jasmine Jennings is now competing in the hammer throw. Meanwhile, Pat Springs is competing in the LJ and Rebecca Donaghue (UMass alum) is running the 5K. I saw Sharesee Woods on the listing for the 200m (I believe she went to Charlotte) but has since scratched.
Scratch what I said about Shareese Woods. She's on the start list for the 200m as of 8:20am this morning.
