First, you can easily do that by overtraining, and Webb beats himself up more than most.
Second, he didn't do that. Webb's two best times in 2007 were his 3:30.54 win in Paris and his 3:46.91 mile (=3:30.10). He ran 3:35.86 in 2008.

well, what DO you want? Doping is happening. So there are only 2 options...either we pretend that it isn't happening and do nothing or we can hope to find as many cheaters as we can and make examples out of them.
I'll live with the bad publicity if it leads to cleaning up the sport.

You'd feel better if he had gotten away with it? I think we'd all ge glad to live in a world in which crime didn't exist, but in lieu of such a utopia, I'll be pleased when the justice system works and catches and convicts those guilty of stealing from others and violating the law.

I think a lot of people would have been proud to say they made the finals. I guess their standards aren't as high yours. The same standards you apply to yourself, I'm sure...

Agreed! Track is probably one of the cleanest sports out there. Every time we CATCH a cheater that makes it cleaner (not dirtier). NFL, MLB, NBA, Soccer... all them are filthy cheaters, but they don't test for the PEDS (MLB has a little and look what they found).
Hey, Ramzi is not done yet, he has a hearing in mid June and his B sample gets tested then as well. Hopefully he will not pull a Lagat and get out of it somehow.
One thing I am happy about as well as Willis getting Silver is Baala getting a Bronze...he has been in the sport a long time at a high level (1:43/3:28 prs, 2X euro champ, 4th in Sydney in 2000) and that would be his first Olympic medal I believe and his first international medal since his silver in 2003.
look at all their faces...then look at Ramzi...it doesn't even look like he's trying.
It's such a shame athletes cheat, but it's great to see the cheaters get busted. Like several have said, Ramzi has been suspect pretty much since 2005. Too bad it took this long to bust him as he won double golds in 2005, silver in 2007, and gold in 2008. Sure, those other guys will be moved up a spot, but they aren't going to get the experience they should have.
Hopefully these positive tests will deter others from cheating.
Really be interested to what he was thinking at that moment.... Did any guilt or shame get mixed in with the satisfaction of "winning" a gold? Or does the familiar doper's rationalization of "everybody else is doing it, therefore I'm as clean as anyone else" come into play?
It looks like Webb is trying to "kick" with just his right leg.
Who are the other two track and field endurance athletes that got busted.... non-medalists.
