Its gotten hard to duck people in the marathon. If Geb is ducking people in the marathon, he's not being too effective at it. The last two or three marathons he's won, the second place finishers ran like a 2:05xx and a 2:06xx. He had to deal with Kwambai for a long time when he set the record and kwambai posted that 2:05xx.
No matter what you're time is- if you beat someone who runs 2:06 or under- you're racing them.
Wasn't like he's cherry picked a race and the second place guy was 6 minutes back. Each race he's in, any small mistake, and someone could come back on him.
I think he was surprised at kwambai's strength and realized he actually had to race him before he could focus on the wr and the win.
Granted its still sort of a time trial for him since he's ducking big names, but come on we should acknowledges if you need to run 2:06 or faster to at least win- thats not much of a cherry pick. Especially now- you have no idea who is capable of running 2:05:06 in any race like in Paris. There aint no cherry picking in the majors.
