My guess is she will take a year off to focus on training and go workm with alberto where she can freely use PED's and have access to millions of dollars technology and the NIKE benefits. then she will decided to pay everything back and run for oregon shortly after.

Did you really just say not many if any Americans are good enough to go pro in distance running? There are well over 100 current American distance runners making a full time living from running. They qualify for health benefits under the USATF program; it's their job. I agree that Hasay would be well served by going to college, especially a place like Princeton, but wow, how misinformed it is to say no Americans can go pro. That being said, there is a rumor about Az State and running with Lou - who is from her area originally. Even if that rumor is not true, I'm pretty sure WA is out and has been for some time.

I sure hope she didn't pick one of the Tier IV Arizona colleges. Perhaps she did some secret interviewing outside the PAC-10. Univ. of Michigan might be a good fit for her. Possibly Princeton or Duke. Hopefully not Colorado. That's my two cents.
If it's a surprise, perhaps it's Cal Poly SLO? IMHO, this would be the smartest choice from an athletic standpoint. Conover and Siqueiros could both help coach her, and she wouldn't have to worry about indoors, or scoring a bunch of points at conference, etc. This would allow her to concentrate on her long term development.
the whole pro thing seems like a status symbol rather than a truly substantial way of making a living.
i believe "going pro" should be defined as making a living from your race results earning rather than finding a sponsorship contract from a shoe company. a company could dump you in a moment, having the ability to be in the hunt for race money is self supporting.

I really don't mean to sound condescending here, but I know it's going to come off that way. It's obvious you have never run for serious money or represented someone who has. A shoe contract is at least a year and oftentimes around three. You can use it on a bank loan application. Same with other sponsors. Prize money at the high levels is very iffy for all but the top few. I knew so many people who get paid less than the race quoted. Some races try to deduct travel funds from the check. Yes, an agent can then fight the race but that is the problem with prize money. No contract. This is where sponsorship money is better. Not only that, unless you have an extremely good track record, you cannot get a loan based off of prize money. Especially these days, a shoe contract is just as reliable as say a job at IBM.
It's interesting to see how our running culture takes high school superstars and puts them on a pedestal. Healthy? Probably not. Don't get me wrong, it's certainly worth taking note of phenomonal young runners, but if you look at the status to which they get elevated, it's hardly a surprise that so many of them just get burned out, or just plain disappear, at the college level (many, but not all). I mean seriously, you get a 15-18 year old runner who just trounces the field through high school and running media is on them like flies ("ooh ooh! Look everyone! The next Pre!"), how difficult must it be for them get to college, where now there are a half-dozen others like them--on their own team for that matter--and now they're just another drop in the bucket? You'd have to have a tremendous amount of maturity and quite a level head on your shoulders to handle that well. Just an observation, wasn't necessarily going anywhere with that.
As it is though, I certainly wish Jordan the very best in her college running career wherever she goes, and I hope that she only keeps getting better.
so being subsidized/sponsored is the best way to "go pro"? you "earn" your money because of a shoe company favor. actually earning the money in races is a bonus?

It's the best area to run in, and lots of support, close to home
