Boston Marathon Jackets

Image Impact jacket = Super Gay

I was reading this thread as if it were recent and was getting really mad that all of the links were broken.

Anyway, the Image Impact jackets have always been really awful. I never understood why anyone would wear them.

My wife got an Adidas windbreaker one year, I think it was 2003. It was red and very simple. It looked good on her. I got a hat one year. I still wear it occasionally. I have run Boston 11 times so I think I deserve to wear it on occasion.

The only other thing I wear are those knit gloves they gave out in 2007 (I think) when it was really really cold.

The shirts are always awful. They feel like you are wearing concrete. Who wears that thick of a shirt? The only worse race shirt I received was the brown mock turtle neck that Marine Corps gave out in 2007.

Who the hell picks out these shirts? Seriously, how about an American Apparel or Alternative Apparel shirt with your graphic? Everyone would be happy, they are cheap and domestically made.

No one like really thick tshirts, right? Who likes those?

In 2008 they gave out long sleeve dri-fit shirts. A big improvement over the cotton shirts of the past. Not sure if they still do this, haven't been back since 08. That 08 shirt is one of my fav workout shirts. Great story, huh?

Long sleeve dri-fit shirt in 2010. It was a light blue color, with yellow lettering on the left arm.

Long Sleeve shirt in 2009 is super bright yellow unicolor with blue print. Looks very distinct. Like it.

Also 2009 is (I believe) when they started to get rid off image impact and that years adidas is quite nice. However, it's in my closet and I hardly ever wear it. Too nice for running ...

Now this years jacket (Adidas green) is really really ugly.

A jacket is an advertisement saying "look at me! I ran boston (probably as a charity runner)"

Also adidas makes CLIMACOOL not dri fit. adidas had climacool before nike had dri fit. Thanks for playing

yeah but no one cares about Adidas. That is like saying "That's not a Kleenex, that's a Puff's Plus. Thanks for playing."

I second your Kleenex analogy. Dri-fit is what comes to mind when thinking of that type of shirt. Therefore,

climacool = super gay.

So long as someone has resurrected this thread for dubious purposes (I also read through from the beginning, and was curious why the links didn't work) - what were these Image Impact jackets, and why were they so hideous?

See what everyone is talking about. Not too stylish for the younger crowd. Better suited for the masters division. It reminds me of the early 90's style wind breaker jackets. My grandpa still loves those wind breaker jackets.

That is the Image Impact's weak attempt to make a jacket that looks like a Nike or Adidas jacket.

The real ones were HIDEOUS.

Your right the older ones are worse than that. Although those aren't much of an improvement. Google didn't turn up anything else. I'll have to go on a photo safari at an upcoming marathon expo. I'm sure there are still a few of those old jackets in the wild. Wink; )

I, too, would like to know how you revive a thread over 2 years old! I've seen a few threads like this recently, and by some strange coincidence, all feature posts from Average_Joe!

But really, whats with all the hating on people buying marathon gear? Without those purchases, adidas, nike, etc will have significantly less cash with which to sponsor races like Boston, Chicago, NY, etc.
