What people don't realise is that UKA has slowly killed this event, they have discouraged people from gaining entry and have geared the event towards 2/3 individuals in the past, leaving the bedrock of second level athletes to look elsehwere, when the 'stars' don't run there is nobody else left. It is a great shame, it is not as though the runners are not there, take a look at the Manchetser 10k results, 20 people below 30. Uka needs to ask itself why athletes do not want to run their races, this must have been the least publicised AAA championship race ever.Only 4 British finishers.

In all this discussion of the race no-one has mentioned the phenomenal improvement of Paul Laslett. He has been a consistent 1:51/1:52 guy for a number of years (see athleticsdata.com) and took 4 seconds off in one go at the age of 26. That's a remarkable run and shows what can happen if someone gets in the right race and is dragged round at the back.
Nobody has mentioned the return of Rimmers lucky t-shirt (which has seemed to double in size in last 12months), obviously had the desired effect!

No, I jump to these conclusions because McCormac was the top Briton last year.
Baddley seems to be improving too.
Baddeley is more talented than McCormick and has a lot more speed but McCormick has lots of friends in the media so gets more coverage.

The fact that McCormick gets more coverage might also be linked to the fact that he has run faster than Baddeley.
But anyway they are both very good and I look forward to seeing them in the final at the Europeans later this year.

2 American lesbos on my train yesterday, had to put up with them snogging each others face off, don't get me wrong a bit of lesbo action is all very well but when one of them is 30 stone and oozing out of her seat and the other one can grow a better beard than me its enough to put you off your evening meal let alone your lunch. I think I counted 6 toasties on a 3 hour journey! Just a starter no doubt for the Maccy D extravaganza when they got off...
