All that said, 2:12 seems weak next to the above, and a mark Ritz could get. But my point is, sub-2:10 by Ritz in NY for his debut, would be pretty darned huge.

I am supposing you've run 2:17 for a marathon and therefore have more than an ounce of credibility to comment on Abdi finishing his marathon in a depleted state (Ha ha, Oprah pace, I like it). Grow up and contribute something positive!
As for the rest of you negative thread writer's, is there not something you can all contribute to the thread board other than all of your slams on guys like Alan Webb, Dathan Riztenhein, Abdi Abdirahman and the countless others that are spoken of in such a negative way. These guys are obviously very talented and doing their best but not good enough for you or anyone else on this terribly negative thread. Oh how much fun it must be to be around folks like you and the rest of you on this thread.
easy he runs 2:14 ,no worse for sure but maybe alittle better. he is going to go out with the expirienced leaders and die in the end like the unexpirienced but good luck nevertheless

Abdi's Achilles blew out in my beloved borough of the Bronx when he made his marathon debut at NYC. He was limping badly when he finished. It had nothing to do with his ability or whether he was prepared for the race. Mostly just bad luck...

That¡¦s is the beginning of the end young promising US future athlete. Start the 26.2 and within 2-5 years Ritz will be burned off. Better enjoys track, road races etc, and then advance to 21 km first. I a talking out of experience of seeing some Kenyans rash to Marathon, and cannot make a living now after ONLY 3 years in Track/road running. You need better advising young man.
