Wow, A+ for maturity!
Conjecture, plain and simple, is what your argument consists of. The fact of the matter is, until Olinger runs comparable flat 3k or 5k marks, it is only fair to conclude that Solinsky would be the better runner. Did Olinger not run indoor track this year? Wait, he got beat by Chris in the 5k by like 8 seconds, didn't he? Does that season not count? What about XC last fall? 40 seconds behind in a 10k, that sound about right?
8:19 is phenomenal, but yet, to say it is far and above anything Solinsky has done is misleading. To put it in perspective, Isiah Festa, the former Badger, ran 8:20 at the 2004 US Olympic Trials... does that mean that Festa, too, is better than Chris in 3k and above? You see why that type of reasoning is irrational?
This is all so stupid, because I'm huge fans of both Chris and Brian... I just take exception to the claim that Olinger is better than Solinsky, 3k and above. Unfounded and irrational, plain and simple.
