Yeah, I thought he might be in trouble. But lanes always seem to open up in tactical races if you're patient. He looked about as poised as a man can look in a championship race, in spite of the box he was in for 1400 meters. Webb, on the other hand, ran one of the worst races I've ever seen from a 3:30 guy in Round 1 of the Olympics. He could have led the whole race on the rail and won with less effort than he expended running 3:41 in the middle of lane 2. Dreadful race.

But if that little sliver of space hadn't opened up he would've been cooked because he had Nuguse and Dingles practically right next to him and he would've been stuck in lane one with nowhere to go. And in international heats you get a lot of dirty play by runners in tight quarters. Better to stay up front and out of trouble and keep away from the bums.

But, to run 3:35 in back to back championship meets, with huge negative splits no less, certainly means the athlete is capable of much faster. If you argue against that you’re simply a contrarian or a troll.

Where do they get "7 figure deal from Nike" from if he hasn't had any offers? As far as I know, Nike does yearly contracts and they just reduced their running sponsorship budget by a huge amount. Running at Oregon is in some cases better and more financially stable than going pro, as well as a better investment for the future.

Agree with this. Fun in college does not necessarily mean going to classes or even winning NCAA titles. He likely is referring to college life in general and the experience of being a 20 year old and hanging out with others your age while learning things without the pressure to work and produce results as a pro.
He only has one chance to fully experience college life like it will be for the next couple years. He could go back to school (enroll and attend classes) when he is 30 but the fun will be gone.

So you can brag about his US and NCAA championships.

you and the other "writers" have pimped this story for years. It was WORTHLESS. No one went on the record, no one offer specific details, no one provide you with actual contracts. It was based 99% on speculation. The only true data point we have is Boris Berian's contract. And he actually proved that Nike was right to offer this a short contract and NB got ripped off.
