The article said they were running on the Flatirons Golf Course.
That's good. I was wondering where they would have it. The CU course was horrible last summer when I spent a 6 week stint there. Maybe it just wasn't mowed at the time with rocky, narrow dirt paths, but I couldn't see how in the world they'd hold meets using that course!
sorry to hear you got the dirty looks. I have never experienced that. So many wonderful people I have met an had had conversations with while running the Mesa Trail. Got many a "good job"'s while dying up Flagstaff and Bear Peak. I think for the most part, people are more runner friendly now.
... give it a rest, half of those people from 1983 are dead! Geez somebody gave you a dirty look over 2 decades ago and you still hold a grudge against the entire city! - what a pathetic loser!

Hi, I'm from Rochester Hills. This is the best and only place for american runners to train and be good. All US champs should be here because we're the only ones who care about running. If you're not with us or buying something from one of our stores, you're against us. Boulder sucks.
Boulder really does suck. The biggest pile of pretentious, arrogant, yuppie ass wipes I've ever seen. Here's to hoping I never have to set foot in that town again.
Just because we are better than you, doesn't mean you have to get so pissed off about it. We kinda hope you dont set foot in Boulder again either, you just bring us down.
"boulder residents" is how pretentious, arrogant, yuppie ass wipes refer to themselves
I have no problem with Boulder runners being better than me, it's the fact they think they're shit doesn't stink simply because they live in Boulder. I never understood that attitude, "I live in Boulder, therefore I must be cool". What a crock of shit. So, everyone who wishes they were cool can pack their bags, move to the running mecca of the world, and voila... instant coolness. Now you're surrounded by thousands of bratty trust fund kids living in overpriced housing driving their fricking Land Rovers and listening to their Widespread show from 10/2/01 or some watered down DMB crap. What a joke. You're not cool. You're a sheep. Congratulations on helping make Boulder the laughing stock of the rest of America. Glad you enjoy it there, but don't kid yourself. The place is a joke and so are a good percentage or its residents.

I agree with you. Lets drop everything that happened 20 years ago. Which includes gloating about the presence of Frank Shorter, Mark Plaatjes, and everyone else thats accomplishments have had nearly 20 birthdays.

I think that your sarcasm is pointed in the wrong direction. We are extremely happy that the event will be in Boulder. I talked to one of our coaches about an hour ago and he thinks that it is great. Boulder is a city that understands running and that is rare. Even us sea level guys think that it is good for the sport.
I want specifics. Who do you know that is an elite runner that is as arrogent as you claim? Or are you just generalizing?

With statements like that, why do you even ask?
Not any elites per se, actually they're pretty cool, but there is has been, and probably will be an element of Boulder folk who are somewhat arrogant about their town, just because they live there. And this does include those in the running community, and the biggest snobs were actually the non-elites.

Was it CO-Runner? I hear that he is a dog hating bastard.

Naw, but 'Boulder resident' certainly has the traits!
If you read the quote from the article it says "a" mecca, not the world mecca, or USA mecca or even "the" mecca. If you want to quote someone and rip them, make sure you have the quote correct. Also Julian say it was a mecca, but rather he was referring to what others have said.
In the initial post I was being sarcastic, but I guess you couldnt tell. I was trying to get under these sensative peoples skins, and I guess it worked with you. SOME Boulder people are arrogent, but so what. that is no reason to not have XC here and to hate boulder as a town or most people here in general.
I visited Boulder for a week in 1983 during the summer before I started college. I ran about 10 miles a day. Probably saw 20-30 other runners. When I would say hello, they would just give me a dirty look and run by. It was the most unfriendly city I have ever been to.[/quote]
