Disappointing no doubt but we all knew Manchin is a Republican who wears blue suits. We never had 50 senators and the only thing Manchin was good for was making Mitch the minority leader. The lesson to learn yet again from this is that protecting democracy was always going to be a partisan effort.

All Ds can do now is campaign hard on this topic going into 2022 and hope the Rs haven’t rigged local elections enough by then to be able to flip the Senate. If Ds pick up another 2 senate seats in 2022 the filibuster will get killed.

Btw - if Ds haven’t done it by then, the next time the GQP gets senate majority back they will absolutely kill the filibuster and wreak havoc to their heart’s desire.

There is nothing authoritarian about getting rid of the filibuster. You must believe the founding fathers were authoritarians, because there is no filibuster in the constitution.

The R's did end the filibuster on SCOTUS nominees. Each party has been chipping away at it and the R's will finish the job if the D's don't do it first.

The D's should get rid of it now so we can save humanity.
