Putin didn't need to dangle or goad with any of that to distract Trump from Russia (America's biggest threat and enemy). I'm not sure exactly when Trump became pro-Russian, but he did it without anyone's urging using whatever impulsive, convoluted logic fills his head, and then he somehow got the MAGA idiots to fall along believing they had always been pro-Russia. Conservatives loved Russia! Reagan loved tariffs! etc.
