“NYT, WaPo (and NPR and others) gave up Pentagon passes rather than sign a restrictive media policy that cast them as a security threat.
It didn’t stop them from learning critical information, which they handled responsibly as they so often have.” (See Semaphore article about their learning of the Maduro capture plans and deciding to hold back until the operation was complete)
(yeah, I have lots of criticisms of MSM too, but critics on here are willfully ibtuse, hypocritical, blatantly partisan, and generally deeply opposed to exploring ideas in depth or arguing in good faith … kind of like the worst people in political discussion all over the interwebs).
There are few countries that would have voted for Trump over Harris. People living in more democratic, educated and happier countries would vote for Harris.
Intelligence is knowing that other's are smarter than you, and that you should listen to them. If about half the population in US believes one thing, but 90% of the population in more educated countries believe otherwise then you should realise you are mistaken... There is nothing wrong about being wrong. What is stupid is not changing perception based on what the majority is telling you
Don't be so self-good. The tendencies you ascribe exclusively to the US are marked i many parts of Europe, including Norway, where 47% of young men (NRK, okt 2024) would have voted for Trump in late 2024! There are large swaths of eastern Germany, a multi-party electoral system, in which 40% of the voting population supports the far right AfD. In the Netherlands and France, far right parties (RN, PVV) trend in front, as much as 35%. This, in political systems that, by their very nature, tend to limit the support given for any one party.
The point is not to absolve or condemn Trump-supporting segments of the US. It is to underscore how naive, arrogant or lazy people here in Norway and other parts of Europe are when trying to talk down to the "uneducated" Americans. In doing so, we are often ignorant about political trends in their own back yard.
Here’s how it should work:
Talk down to the 49% of Americans who voted for Trump.
Talk down to people in your own country who would vote for anyone remotely similar.
Opposing parties probably can’t get away with that. But citizens can and should.

the one thing I'll give the NYT, the Atlantic, etc - when legitimate "mainstream" journalists are texted things they probably shouldn't have received, they keep it quiet and don't publish it immediately. For all the flaws of the MSM, I trust the editor of the Atlantic a lot more than a random citizen journalist / influencer on X when accidentally given information about war plans to not leak it in a way that could be bad.
I'm convinced now more than ever Trump will either cancel the midterms or simply not recognize the results.
Americas best hope of getting rid of this psychotic dictator is he keeps taking health advice from RFK Jr. We're just a Filet O Fish away from normalcy.
…..unless, JD has as little character as appears to be the case, and is taking notes.
And in case it’s not clear, the notes would be: A shameless US president can currently get away with just about anything.

Zelensky cancelled elections and banned opposing parties. Are you saying he should take a page from Zelensky's playbook?
fine, if Russia invades the US between now and November I'll give Trump a pass on cancelling the midterms.
But the more likely scenario is he sends troops into blue states with some completely made up "civil unrest" BS and uses that as an excuse to cancel the midterms.
though my hope is he chokes on a Filet O Fish and adderall sandwich before that.
Well then you’ve made it clear that you know nothing at all. MAGA beliefs are the most rigid in the World. Back to back WW Champs and the the most sought after country for immigration since 1776.
So our beliefs are written right there on that Constitutional paper and all you need to do is read it someday.
Roe v Wade was sent back to the States, where it always belonged, that’s our belief. It’s real simple.

*goes on to prove they have no beliefs*
A special shoutout to the bit on the Constitution. That one was a phenomenal touch. Be lighter on the zingers, you might make one of your buddies spit out their koolaid and that stuff stains!
I am a bit caught off guard on your refraining from explicitly defending pedos in this post, but we know you’re still ride or die on that front.
- a frantic attempt to distract from the bad economy?
- a frantic attempt to distract from the Molester-in-Chief's close relationship with Epstein?
- an attempt to get the oil?
- just a random attempt to try to make himself seem like a "big boy" to assuage his insecurities?
- something else?
The next to last one is ALWAYS part of everything he does.
His crippling insecurity is often humorous, but I suspect someone sold him on this as a money-making opportunity--the hope he can route some of the oil concession money to his businesses, so he can profit and the US can become more indebted, per the usual Trump approach.

What do you think?
I think the deal is that the oil industry 'donated' billions to trump, and he is using all his might to meet his end of the deal, so he can get more 'donations.' We'll if the oil biz will get value from its purchase of potus! Trump promised a deal - can he deliver Venezuela to the oil biz using taxpayer money???? We'll see!
everything with trump is just a bad caricature of ugly americanism. Just the worst of us.
remember that trump literally shook down the oil biz and proposed a quid pro quo:
"Oil and gas tycoons made significant contributions to the Trump campaign after the former president asked the industry for $1 billion to support his reelection bid — and reportedly said it would be a “deal” for them to do so."

– Taking over historic golf courses serving Blacks in DC. *
* Trump dumped all of the debris from his ballroom demolition blitz on the courses. He then gave the operators two months to complete a multi-year renovation project, or else. Or else was taking over the courses and using taxpayer money, rather than donations, to renovate the course in time for Trump golf on them before his demise.
I voted for Trump and am happy I did. After the slight hiccup / jitters we had in April, I think we're in a much better place now and that's due to Trump.
Some of my praise might occasionally intentionally be over the top though

Trump will get a billion a year, plus a management fee percentage, for opening the gates of oil theft from Venezuela to those donors. This is BIGLY money pouring into Trump's pockets.
magas are idiots with no actual beliefs. America is currently a rogue nation. Republicans in Congress are traitors for not standing up to Trump.
The scary part is that piggie knows he will lose the House and maybe senate in a year so he has to do all the bombing he can in 2026. B
Buckle up, chuckleucks.
Seth Abramson @SethAbramson UPDATED LIST of countries the Trump administration has threatened to invade, annex, or otherwise attack in the 85 hours of 2026 so far: 🇻🇪 Venezuela 🇨🇺 Cuba 🇬🇱 Greenland 🇮🇷 Iran 🇨🇦 Canada 🇨🇴 Colombia 🇲🇽 Mexico
Here's an "idiot" supporting Trump:
