"Dems" did not "overplay the hand" in Trump's hooker payoff case. The Manhattan DA's office "played the hand" -- i.e., charged Trump with various white collar felonies. "Dems" did not. There's no star chamber of "Dems" coordinating the timing of various different cases in different courts.
Trump's hooker payoff case may have been "the weakest case" -- I assume you are comparing it to Trump's Fake Electors and Bathroom cases -- in the sense that it was not the most morally culpable case, as there are lots of otherwise okay people who cook the books at the place of business. But it was far from a weak case -- the 12 person unanimous jury verdict speaks for itself on that. It's not seriously disputed by even the MAGAs that Trump paid off hookers and tried to write it off as a legal expense. That's illegal, plain as the goddam day is long.
The fact remains that Trump NEVER appeared on flight logs to the U.S. Virgin Islands nor to St. Thomas in order to get to Epstein's island. Logs show he flew Epstein's jet 7 times (1993-1997), but only domestic routes like Palm Beach to NYC.
Trump and Epstein did plenty of crime in the USA, no island needed:

Even with the millions of dollars DOJ spent protecting Trump by redacting the Epstein files, they missed a photo or two of his ugly face. The photo got through, was distributed in the partial epstein files. First of all, total incompetence is to be expected by trumpers.

Okay, so where are the documents related to (1) Trump's communications with the FBI regarding Epstein and Trump's aid in bringing Epstein down, and (2) Trump's alleged bar/ban of Epstein from Mar-A-Logs. There are ZERO documents related to those two Trump affirmative assertions in the Epstein dumpage to date. Dump. Doc dump. Dumpage. Trump dump. MONGO dump.

Agreed, but a small clarification: Paying off someone for her silence is not generally illegal; it was just the mendacious reporting of the expense that violated the law.
