It seems more odd to me that if the Epstein files were actually damning to Trump that Biden would have certainly released them to put an end to Trump's political career. The fact that he didn't speaks volumes.

1) We can all agree that Joe Biden hates Trump with a passion.

2) We can all agree that Joe Biden would do anything to ruin Trump's political career.

3) Joe Biden was president for 4 years (well some of that time he was not really president). He had access to ALL of the Epstein files. If the files were damning to Trump Biden and Co. would have released them.

On the face of it, I would agree. I was always of the opinion that whatever was in the files about Trump was probably no worse than all the filth that's already out in the open.

But forgetting about Biden for a second, Trump right now is absolutely terrified that they'll be released. You must agree that being so scared would be incredibly strange if there's nothing in there that should worry him?

It seems more odd to me that if the Epstein files were actually damning to Trump that Biden would have certainly released them to put an end to Trump's political career. The fact that he didn't speaks volumes.

The fact that the DOJ during Biden's tenure followed the law instead of acting like a lawless extension of the White House speaks volumes about Trump's non-involvement with a pedo-ring?

No. No, it does not.

The fact that Trump has and will fight tooth and nail to keep the files from the light of day speaks far more.

I wouldn’t. I assume there are high ranking Democrats also implicated in those records, which would explain why the Biden administration didn’t make everything public.

Well if the Biden administration was protecting those Dems in the files committing crimes, Biden and Co. should be prosecuted for aiding and abetting. Not matter how frail and senile he is today.

I think that you MIGHT really be that dumb, so I'll answer:

1) No, that's not an airtight argument.

2) Much, much, more importantly, EVEN IF ONE GRANTS THAT IT IS, you now need to explain Trump not wanting them released. Indeed, causing himself a lot difficulty in his efforts not to have them released. Please begin.

Anyone who’s covered any of this up can go to prison, as far as I’m concerned.

I think the records will likely show that Trump was very much aware of what Epstein was doing but chose to still associate and pal around with him. Which would be a death sentence to a presidency in normal times. But I doubt that even that would lead to 67 senators voting to convict.

It seems more odd to me that if the Epstein files were actually damning to Trump that Biden would have certainly released them to put an end to Trump's political career. The fact that he didn't speaks volumes.

As I understand it, by the time Biden took office, the Epstein files had been sitting around the DOJ in storage for 12 years through the previous administrations of Obama and Trump. And Epstein was dead. The Biden DOJ had no reason to be spending time and resources reviewing Epstein files yet again. Don't believe for a second that any other politician in the country is as craven and hell-bent on misguided retribution as Trump is that they are going to go scouring long dead files for possible ammo.

As I further understand it, the resurrection of the Epstein files to national media status was solely the initiative of people like Hindu Patel, Bondo, Taylor-Greens, and Trump himself.

The sudden change of heart by those people regarding release of the Epstein files is the only suspect thing that I can see here. Don't you want to know why they changed their minds? Of course you do. You're a reasonable person.

I know that most or all of you know this, but JUST in case: Showing any level of balance - including GREAT balance - never makes Trumpers one iota more balanced themselves.

It's like showing off to a serial killer that you think that killing is wrong. It might make you feel good, but he ain't changing.

Yep. it is DOJ policy not to publicly release investigative information against a citizen that you have no plans to indict. This came up in the Mueller investigation. Why release anything about Trump if you can't indict him as a sitting president?

The Trump team was successful in spinning the fact that Mueller could not indict into Trump was exonerated. Even though Mueller said he could be indicted after he left office.

Trump and his DOJ have turned all that upside down. The DOJ is a public smear operation that will gladly release investigative information even when they may not indict.

Twighlight Zone:

1) Previously, we all learned that a (freakin') DOJ POLICY threw the rule of law out the window when it came to a criminal president in office.

2) More recently, we've learned that any number of laws and constitutional principles mean nothing if a president is willing to violate them.

Mere policies win (in an ethical, if stupid, administration), and laws and the constitution lose (in a completely unethical, lawless administration).

Seems a tad backwards.....
