You sir, are an idiot. You fall under one of two categories.
A. No one notices when you have good or bad race. You are so slow that running 25 seconds off expectations goes unacknowledged by your coach. He simply says, "Nice effort out their Pocahontas, as he looks past you towards the real studs on the team" You go to the back of the bus and eat your bucket of cookies that your mommy gave you at the meet so you wouldn't feel down about being such a mediocre athlete.
B. You are an extraordinarily streaky runner that regularly experiences manic/depressive episodes. You are flying high right now because your regional success has given you newfound confidence. You will quickly be deflated when "your legs don't feel good" next Saturday. As runners stream by you, karma will be literally and metaphorically kicked in your face. You will wish you had never posted such inflammatory crap on the internet. However, you will come to a new level of understanding, that consistently running peak races is not very common in collegiate running.
hmmmssd...
wrongo... sorry i am not some second year english major who is currently getting my giddies off by applying principles from essay writing class to a lets run message board.
on the other hand, i am just calling it as i see it. specifically, calling you out on the poor matt yak/doboul ruon stuff.
the guy got beat at central regions. plain and simple. on the other hand, he looked good at conference.
just remember, the good ones take care of it at miac, wiac, etc... great ones get it accomplished down the line at regionals, and yet even further down the line at nationals...
lets see what happens.
take the karma, 25 seconds of expectaions, cookies, kicks in the face, and whatever random assortment of bullshit and enjoy the van or plane ride to hanover as the 6-7th runner or 1st/2nd non-factor from northfield to participate on saturday.
Two very stupid posts. You posture as a guy who "knows what it takes".
"I am just calling it as I see it."
"Just remember..."
"Great ones get it accomplished..."
Give me a break.
This is pathetic. How often is it that a first year wins the conference? Underclassmen are never consistent, but give him some credit and go easy on the guy. He is an amazing runner, some guys go to college for 5 years to try and accomplish this, and spend years running 100 plus mile weeks. I am looking forward to seeing him progress in the next few years.
so who's going to place higher at Nats, Olaf or SJU? Olaf won the smaller meet (conference) and SJU beat them at regionals. Will the larger meet cater to SJU's small spread or to Olaf's front runner (Ruon)? Obviously, Olaf has been beating SJU all year, but maybe SJU is peaking at the right time. What do you guys think?

I heard from a good friend, reliable source too, that St. Olaf sucks.
Had it just been Olaf vs. SJU, Olaf won by 1 point, 27 to 28, and that was with Ruon, Green and Marotz running poorly. Olaf's pack can run with SJUs (as indicated at conference when Olaf had 4 in before SJU had 1). Olaf had an off race. Olaf beats SJU at Nats.
You write like you are in high-school. You probably go to one of the "meat-head" MIAC schools. I don't run for St. Olaf, and yes I agree that no one should make excuses when they have a mediocre performance. What I am saying is that just because he did not run well at regions does not mean he won't run well at nationals. You sound like you have a perfect record for running consistently, why don't you enlighten us as to who you are.
can someone explain to me what the "meat head" MIAC schools are and explain rationally (probably a steep request for most of the conference)?
Well I think St. John's can qualify as being a sausagefest school, but I don't know if that qualifies them as meat heads.

There are two primary "categories" of MIAC schools: Eggheads and Meatheads
Eggheads:
- Mac
- Carleton
- Olaf
Meatheads:
- Concordia
- St. Mary's
- St. Thomas
- Augsburg Technical College
The remainder defy easy categorization. You have your Godheads (Bethel, St. Kate's), your Giveheads (St. Johns), your Gelledheads (Gustavus), your (Dawg) Boneheads (Hamline), and your IRecognizeTheBackOfThatHeads (St Bens).

If you are smart, but still go to St. Thomas, you can stay longer and complete a triple major, and get paid to run track for 5 years!
And what do you mean by IRecognizeTheBackOfThatHeads (St Bens)?
You did not seem to explain this rationally by showing how one qualifies to be a meathead, rather you provided a arbitary list with no meaning behind it. Shoot I can make one of those.
Hippie Stoners/Flower Children
Mac
Carleton
Preps/Valley Girls
UST
Ghetto
Augsburg
Hamline
Country Bumkins
St. Mary's
Concordia
Gustavus
St. Olaf
Grizzly Adams/Soap On A Rope Recommended
St. Johns
Biblebangers
Bethel
Dick Van Dykes
St. Kates
St. Bens
hahaha, that was a great list...and thanks for the recruiting help for UST!
Yup. Olaf certainly looked overrated today. So did Ruon. Definitely peaked at the wrong time and can't handle the big meets like the Johnnies can.
Hindsight is 20/20 you tool
Wait, didn't I say earlier that Olaf had an off race and would beat the Johnnies at Nats?

Oh yea. I did.
I dont think anyone really thought the johnnies would beat olaf at nats. they don't have a frontrunner, and at a larger meet like nats, it will kill them. in the johnnies defense, they ran better than I expected. Just be glad that they changed the qualification for nats from the old 'historical' method. if that were the case, the central region would only get 3 teams next year.

irrelevant, and also wrong. if they used the old system, the central would get four teams next year: 1 auto + 3 bonus teams (top 24 earn bonus teams).
can't wait to see st. olaf and st. thomas show down in the dmr this year... has the potential to be a great matchup and a very fast race, if they end up running their best teams at the same meet.
