That's boring, at least engage a little so this isn't just a vanity project.
Crypto is a joke and a fraud/scam. That’s basically it. Most participants lose in it because it’s a negative sum game.
I was just outside a Whole Foods tonight and overheard a guy listening to a crypto podcast on his speaker phone, I struck up a conversation with him and he’s an Alex Jones InfoWars fan. He told me he got into crypto about a month or two ago and lost 11% in Etherium and was glad he didn’t get into it earlier because he would’ve lost much more (I’m thinking he meant a couple months earlier) . He said Bill Gates and Warren Buffett and Dr Fauci are all evil and Robert Malone invented mRNA and it’s [covid vax] not a real vaccine and it kills people. I told him I got 3 doses and he said but maybe you [sh||tcoin gambler] got the placebo.
I met a crypto hater outside trader joes the other day. He was a skinny little runner boy with a "Go Green" shirt on and had a sign saying "Your BTC is killing our Earth." His mom came to pick him up and he grumbled that "he was too old be told what to do." Classic amirite??
I think long term it is remembered in category of beanie babies and herbal life type of stuff
Even if my accumulated wealth was solely on the backs of greater fools… I’m still enjoying it. But I firmly believe this is not the end of crypto. Shall we have a bet? Revisit in 5 years? I’ll put down $5000. We can decide the terms.
I do put my money where my mouth is by staying the hell away from crypto because it’s a scam and just sitting back to watch the gamblers trade the turds. I block/unfollow anyone with the stupid laser eyes, rocket ship emoji, the .eth, or an NFT ape for a profile pic . In person, You can’t even talk about it [crypto and whether it’s sht or not] at a party because it’s spreading FUD and everyone has a little bit of it I guess, so you’re like the skunk at the party if you even mention any skepticism of it . It’s funny to watch it except I don’t want people getting hurt to the point they want to hurt themselves. In terms of money where my mouth is, I put it into index funds and real estate basically. I agree with you it may not be the end of crypto. But it’s probably going to be harder to find more fools, especially in different economic conditions. Some hardcore libertarian types may still be into bitcoin even once it has “died,” eg it trades for $100 again, just because they believe in private money system and conspiracies, even if it’s 13+ year old tech that can only handle very few transactions per sec. I believe all crypto goes to something close to worthless, but I can’t give a timeline for when it goes to zero (or close to it) because there are too many variables I don’t know the ifs/whens of.

That’s pretty funny. I was at the Whole Foods though and I was not wearing that kind of shirt but rather a dri fit running shirt. And I drove myself home so my mom wasn’t there
My college friends who majored in economics/finance were talking about the yields advertised on the crypto sites last year and thought how the heck are they even able to offer that? Must be a ponzi of sorts

If someone is a crypto hater, they’re more likely to be a sensible left center capitalist than a woke “big banks, big Pharma bad” granola left winger
But I don't blame people who have minimal grasp of crypto from conflating the two. All nascent technologies has boom and busts.
Computer scientists aren’t impressed with the technology- quite the opposite
You’re right there’s nothing really impressive about crypto. Proof of work algorithms have been around forever. It’s more that we have a global computing network to make them viable now. So it’s not really the technology but the implementation that matters now. Certainly interesting times.
I used to work with some very smart people. PhD in computer science or math. There wasn’t really consensus among them about crypto. So I think acting like there is because you read some tweets is disingenuous. like I said it’s more about implementation than technology at this stage anyway. Don’t get fooled by people claiming there “tech” is better.
