9:13 in the steeple doesn't mean anything when you don't even score a single point at the outdoor conference meet. Mansfield, other than Buddy, has a mediocre distance squad...and that is being nice. Nick Hilton scored more points at outdoor PSAC's than your entire team put together.

Bud Plazenski has plenty of talent...and, coming from a small high school with not much of a distance program...he's got a ton of upside if he can stay healthy. When it is all said and done, I'll be quite surpised if Bud doesn't end up being a multi-time All-Amwerican as well. It largely depends on his being able to stay healthy for several years in a row, while continuing to push the envelope and increase his miles/intensity. It's this unknown that keeps the sport interesting...

Wow Hoovis, you're a genius. You should consider being a coach or something. No sh*t that's what him doing well depends on, way to state the obvious. Basically you're predicting him being a multiple time all-American based on the fact that he needs to stay healthy...you really went out on a limb there.

He wouldn't be one of the top 3 runners for ship or haven so I guess those other two teams are going to have multiple national champions. Be realistic Hoovis and think about it. Ship has 6 guys that can run what Bud ran already. Haven is standing there with 4 guys that can go sub 8:30 for 3k. Edinboro has Hahn and Anderson who would make Bud look like a third string quarterback. Facts are facts and Bud is just a guy that will keep trying to be somebody but keeps getting outkicked by ship and haven and crying that they have more money, better coaching, and more talent.

I'm not sure it's as obvious as you think. Picking a kid from DuBois high school who doesn't have much of a track record to become a force in the conference and have an impact on the national scene doesn't seem so obvious. Further, it is not just about staying healthy. If it were that easy, we'd all be multi-time All Americans. There is a talent factor involved in the whole equation. There are plenty of runners who are fully committed to being the best that they can be...and who stay relatively healthy. But, that doesn't equate to them having All-american potential. The Ship & Haven teams are full of them (don't kid yourself...most of their runners are good runners who work really hard and maximize their talent...but, they aren't GREAT runners). In terms of other runners in the PSAC with more upside...there are a few. I certainly think Nick Hilton is the best the PSAC has to offer. The dude ran 3:54 for 1,500 meters and ran sub-30 for 10K. That's some serious range. He's a stud...a stud...a stud. And, don't get me wrong, I love the Ship and Boro teams. Look back through these threads and you'll see that I hold those teams in super high regard. But, in terms of individuals...I'm not so sure. When it comes to Edinboro, I'll give you Anderson. Dude can flat out run. He had a killer freshman year, and seems to be the type of runner that will only get better. Although Boro seems to have a funny trend of having great freshman and sophmores who perform worse as upper classman...just ask Hahn. It's tough to get better every year. So, I'm not sure who else from Boro is a super star. In terms of Ship...great coach...great team. But, weren't Beegle and Stetler seniors last year in track? Matt Gillette certainly looks promising. He ran 3:55 last year and had a very solid cross country season. So, I'm guessing he can run 14:30-14:45 for 5K this year, which is solid. But, it's not clear to me how much faster he'll ever run beyond that. I might be wrong...he may have a sub 9 steeple in him, but just not sure. And, Brandon Boyer will likely break 31 in the 10K in outdoor...but, 30:30 to 30:45 is about the best I can see him going. Bud was a frosh last year. Kid broke 4:00 for 1,500 and ran 9:13 for the steeple. 9:13 is fast. He struggled to break 15 in the 5K last year though...but, he's much stronger this year. I don't think Coach Rohl will do it, but I'd love to see Bud in the 5K at Penn Relays (guessing he'll run the steeple). I think the kid can run 14;30 - 14:45 this year as a sophmore. But, if he runs the steeple, I would think 9:05 - 08 is in order. Either way, I think he's just getting going and will get better every year. So, rip me if you want, but I'd love to know which 6 kids from Ship y'all think are going to be better than Bud. Hoovis

As for who will be better then Bud.

1. Bryan Beegle

2. Sean Stelter (also a F*#k up on your part)

3. Matt Gillette

4. Stephen Schlander

5. Brandon Boyer

6. Take your pick between Jake Sitler and Joel Flott.

Flott can beat him over the 800 and Sitler can beat him from 3k up.

Between these 7 guys Bud will have a hard time being top three in any event on the track you want to pick. Unless it's taking your HS girl to prom and skipping PSAC's then yes Bud wins.

And who care where these boys came from. This is the PSAC so virtually nobody comes from top programs. Everybody has been under trained and under coached. This does not make Bud special in any way. You are just like the guys that talk up Boise State and say how good they are so that they can sleep well at night. Everybody knows they suck but lets just keep telling them they are good and someday they will be. Join the real world.

What and who you should be talking about is Monroe from Lock Haven. If somebody is going to be a multiple AA then its him. Hell you are saying yourself Bud will be a 14:30-40 guy this year. Once again Ship, Haven, and Edinboro can have 10 guys do that this year. It's nothing special.

Is Bud a good athlete? Yes

Is he special? yes for Mansfield

Is he going to be a Multiple AA? No

Is Monroe better? Yes

Is Bud going to win a Conf title this year? Possible, if they let mansfield win the DMR or 4x800 again

So, curious about this. If Bud does do really well and beats all the Ship and haven guys what would you say? That he has a better coach? That he has more money? Or that he has more talent? What if he makes AA? Will you make fun of because he wants to be a nurse? Really? Come on now.

Championship meets say it all, Lets look at Bud's championship meet credentials. Indoor PSAC's practically none, outdoor Psac's none, XC regionals...None....Ok well that ends that argument.

There were two teams that ran sub 10 last year. If they weren't in a tight team race and ran their A squad to win, they would have blown Mansfield away. There's no point in getting 3 distance guys tired for an extra 2 points. Most of those guys were running 2 or 3 other races.

This post is aimed at "What Else"...so I want to start off by saying that you're a complete idiot. You probably haven't ever been to a conference meet and actually watched the distance races based off of what was said in your last post.

1. Bryan Beegle is a multiple time PSAC champ, there is no debate here and the fact that you think it is debatable just reassures me of how dumb you are.

2. Sean Stetler- was the indoor 3k champ in 8:25 (Bud was in that race), and he has run 14:30's for 5k. Both are events that Bud runs, and Bud has lost to him in both. No debate here either.

3. Matt Gillette- got outkicked in the DMR...once. Big deal, Gillette has run 3:55 for 1500 and 14:54 for 5k, both PR's are better than Bud's. PLUS he actually shows up when it matters at PSAC's and scores points. Bud scored 0 outdoors. End of story.

4. Stephen Schelander- Also has run 3:55, and has run 14:50 for 5k. Both PR's better than Bud's. Look how he did outdoors last year, 4th in the 1500 and 3rd in the 5k at PSAC's. Bud scored 0. Not even a question.

5. Brandon Boyer- Doesn't have great PR's, but he is a great 10k guy and an all-American in cross. Bud runs the 5k, so does Boyer, i'll take a XC all-American over a sophmore with nothing to his name in a 5k race anyday. The nod goes to Brandon.

6. Jake Sitler- Bud runs the steeple and has run 9:13, but Jake ran 9:23 at the conference meet and got 4th and came up cluth with the points that his team needed to get the win. Where was Bud? Probably at prom with his HS girlfriend, that automatically makes Jake better. DEBATE OVER!

In terms of Ship, Haven, and Boro having 10 guys run 14:30...come on now. When's the last time the PSAC (as a conference) have 10 guys run that fast? Quite frankly, I don't think it's EVER happened. I don't think it happend back when Uriel and gang were running for Boro and the Rock was strong with Laughlin and group and Ship was tough with Randy Lowe. They likely had a good 5-6 in the 14:30's or faster, but I doubt they had 10. It could've happened in the mid-80's when Platt and the Boro gang were really rocking it, but I don't think the other conference teams were as strong then...so, unlikely.
