its easy to tell this is a miac thread when 3 of the top 4 teams are miac, and 4 of the top 5 individuals are miac runners. I am part of the miac, but I don't think these are very realistic predictions. For one, st thomas will be worse off in regions, when there are even more runners. You need to have guys in the top 10, and they may only get 2 guys in the top 35. Gleason will not place even better at regions, with more stiff competition. Chanweth is very fast. And Mckay from Luther was a few seconds behind him at conference, both running low 24 min 8ks (I am guessing the course was short). I think Olaf has a good chance to win, but since the new coach took over at Luther a few years back, they always seem to come out of nowhere.
Olaf

The top 5 guys will go on to get all american, with Ruon breaking into the top 10

You can also tell it's a MIAC thread because people butcher names of those not in the MIAC. Chanweth...! Are you kidding me?
How many at-large bids will the central region get? I doubt we'll get all 3 like last year.

The region is not as top heavy as it was last year, but I still think we'll get 5. The highest ranked team to date as far as I know was Hamline at 15th a few weeks back, but the central region has consistently had 4 or 5 ranked in the top 35 all year with 1 or 2 being considered. Also, it hasn't always been the same teams. I can count 8 teams that have received some national recognition thus far, making for a bit of a carousel in who's the best. With this many competitive teams, our region's history, and the fact that only 5 midwest teams get to go, I'd still say it's likely the central region gets 5.
What in the world has happened to the thread subject line over the last few pages? Nabisco will be very unhappy! Let's get this thing back on track, guys.
Sincerely,
Chips

Yea. Just like talent this year.
Yeah, Ruon is not talented at all. I was jogging sub 25:00 8k's in my first cc season.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ZING!
Come out come out Ari, chips and the rest of you on this message board. Regionals is away and this board is dead.

Regionals is away? Where did it go?
so i don't usually try to generate chatter - i wait until other people post and i tear them down.
but i will offer some comments. i'm typically not a st. thomas supporter, but i have to admit that i liked their mustaches at the conference meet. let's just say that in my opinion, bleaching hair is to high school as growing sweet facial hair is to college. recent memories include the spiral sideburns of some guy from macalester, and of course the mountain-man beard of chris lundberg.
at regions, i hope to see greeno return to his mid-season form. he ran a few great races and it would be nice if he could represent the miac with a top ten finish at nationals, although if he continues to slide, he might have to worry about qualifying first.
and finally, i'm really looking forward to seeing more miac teams crush wartburg than ever before.
sorry if i disappointed anyone by not being more of an asshole.

I think the top 4 teams will get selected to nationals. Olaf beat Nebraska Wesleyan at Drews but NWU was missing their #1 runner, Laflin, while Olaf was at full strength. This should make a huge difference. Grinnell probably has a better team than Olaf but has a history of poor performances at regionals - I think they hold it together somewhat but the Oles will slip in front for 2nd. Hamline will find a way to beat Luther for 4th, the edge at #2 will help them.
You do realize a lot of the Tommies bleached their moustaches so they were darker, right?
And this part isn't in reply to you, but to the person above me: How the hell is Greeno going to beat Ruon at regionals? He wasn't even close at conference.
he wont. somebody is just pissed that a ridiculously good freshmen beat greeno. Ruon will win the region, he is just too damn talented.
