Names peeps, we need names of ALL the guys that skipped. You can claim all you want but I'm not going to be convinced till you do so. Top 10 looks pretty mush how I expected it to be.

Obviously, your a great fan of Ritz but not a knowledgable runner.
If you knew that Sammy Kipketer ran 13:00 two years in a row you would know how hard it is to go under 13:00 especially on the roads.
Wishful thinking , but I'm sorry, No way !
Kilgore,
Ritz would have to be ~8:20 @ 2miles.
Think about it dumbass
Yup, I was standing at the 2 mile mark both years when a pack of about 10 guys went thru in 8:10-15
It was an amazing sight to see them in such a smooth and controed pace. They were all looking around at each other like it was a 3k tempo run.
I think Sammy was right at 4:00 flat the first time he went 13:00
Don't the world best times at Carlsbad usually come from a first mile near 4 flat? I don't know how anyone will ultimately finish, but I guess the top places will go to whoever that first mile hurts the least. Sorry for stating the obvious.
Mottram will destroy Ritz. Period. If Mottram and Ritz would race a 5K 10 times right now, Mottram would win all 10 of them. The guy has gone sub 13 for 5K. Ritz has done nothing in his career equivilant to 13:10. Those ten seconds are pretty big I might add. If Mottram would lose to Ritz at Carl, it would be an upset of large proportions.
I met Sammy Kipketer a couple of days ago. His the nices guys in the world. He will win this sunday in 13:03.
Still a fan of Ritz
Mottram has run sub 13:00 on teh track, but that was on the track and this will be a ROAD race, where Ritz has shown that he is a much more accomplished runner. I am not advocating that Ritz will rock Mottram, but he does stand a far better chance on the road than on teh track right now. Ritz is an up and commer so you have to respect the fact that he has a shot at it.(beating Mottram)
how the hell can you say that, you guys tried this for cross country .
just cause someone is really fast on the track, doesnt mean that going to slow down a whole hell of alot , more than a guy whos slower on the track.
the only reason you might be able to say ritz is more accomplished on the road , is because mottram doesnt do alot of road races.
Ritz is a more accomplished runner on the road? Uh, ok. Sure, I'll give you that. I'll even pretend Mottram has NEVER run a road race before. But, for arguement's sake, let's say that Mottram has run some of his training runs on the road and this isn't some type of foreign soil to him. No wait, let's say that Mottram has never even jogged on the roads before. The bottom line is, he has a 12:5x-type engine in his body. Ritz has a 13:1x engine in his. As long as the course is 5K and reasonably flat, it doesn't matter if they are running on jello. Mottram will beat Ritz almost every time. I don't think some of you are fully understanding the difference between 12:5x and 13:1x. It's not the difference between 15:5x and 16:1x, it take much much much more to get to sub-13. Ritz can't beat Mottram and, barring any wierd stuff, he won't beat Mottram. (This time.)
...and who is the idiot that said "you can't compare apples with oranges.."
Bull!
Oranges are nice, sweet and juicy. And apples just plainly suck...
There you go!
How can you say Ritz is more accomplished on the road than Mottram. Mottram beat Tergat over 10km last year and beat John Kibowen over 5km a month earlier. Mottram has run some stunning races on the road. What the fork has Ritz done on the road to compare to that?
Once again Ritz proves that he's not the athlete all of yee claim him to be, and yes I was right :-)

Should be: "has rUn"
Thanks for telling us. I would've been totally lost otherwise
That was Mottram's first defeat on the road for well over a year..... In fact, I can't remember mottram ever getting beaten on the road, and he has some impressive scalps to boot!
Ritz is clearly not as good as Marc Davis was. Davis had much better inherent speed. I think he has the US two mile record. When he set the record didn't he run the first mile in 4:05.
wrong. Bob Kennedy has the US 2 mile record.

That phrase is just amazingly money. "Southern HEMISPHERE Bob Kennedy". I dig your style too, much love for both parties involved.

Hmmm, I think I was right as well. No doubt there will be various reasons from Herr Ritzenheim as to why he did not win. And various people on here denouncing Mottram's run as lucky, drug aided, bullshit aided etc etc.
