I don't think Brannen will be the type to make the big move with 300m - 400m to go. He has a devastating last 50m-75m. I think he can win plenty of races, even big ones, by relying on that kick. I really think if the training goes well, he can be a difficult miler to beat.
BTW, what is Sullivan's 5K PR? Willis is about the same level miler/3K'er as him. Not as good in XC, so I'd take Sully's time and maybe add a couple/few seconds.
The Commonwealth of Nations is a free association more or less between Britain and it's former colonies. As the previous poster pointed out, few of the Commonwealth countries officially recognize the British Crown as the head of state, but she is the Head of the Commonwealth. Additionally, the seperate depertments that make up GB (England, Wales, Scotland, N Ireland, etc) all compete as seperate teams. One of the most thrilling relays I've ever seen was the mens 4x400mR at Manchester in 2002. With 150m to go, it was Jamaica, the Bahamas, England and Wales all duking it out and come down to England inching out Wales 3:00.40 to 3:00.41. Great race.
The Commonwealth functions as a kind of mini-UN between Britain and it's former colonies. They can enforce certain economic or political sanctions (as they are currently with Zimbabwae who has left the Commonwealth) or as they did for years against South Africa during apartheid. Also, rather ironically, many former British colonies are finding th eCommonwealth to be a valueable alternative to the UN for airing their grievences because in the former organization, their views and opinions are often at the whim of the US -- it's ironic that former colonies now look to their former colonizer for help as opposed to the US -- the former symbol of anti-imperialism.

Hmm in defense of Americans I'm actually from New Zealand and happily admit that I don't know shit about the politics behind the commonwealth and couldn't give a shit either. Apologies for misleading anyone I did say that someone would have to help me out - I didn't do any research.

Well, he has won the 800m twice at indoor NCAAs. I think that shows he can make a big move and get away from a field. And the 800m is a little bit different than 1500m in that you don't really kick in an 800, you are holding form, whereas the in the 1500m, you are accelerating when you kick

Sully has said he will run a few 5ks this summer and may move up in full time in the near future, I expect him to go under 13:20, he is a strength 1500 runner with only having run 1:48 (maybe 1:47 high). Brannen ran 1:46.60 in high school at CDN senior nationals as far as I can remember he never went to Europe that summer.
Brannen may have won some indoor titles but he always gets eaten outdoors when it really counts, I will be very (pleasently) surprised if he can win NCAA's 1500m outdoors.
