Fam rules.
Mary probably need some more $$. $500,000 isn't what it used to be.
i am a fam fan, probably because i can somewhat relate to his situation and background
I was at the race and spoke to Fam afterwards; he appeared to be in good spirits. He's obviously in good shape, that not a flat course and he ran unopposed. The race has a downhill finish and he came in like a freight train. This race probably was not on his schedule, I think he was visiting someone in the area. He kind of blended in with everyone; I think very few people knew who he was.
It’s kind of exciting to see a 13:40 at local race.
I ran this race too and the course isn't short just downhill the last 1.5mi. From what I witnessed and the short amount of time I spoke with Fam he seemed like a really genuine, nice guy. He has reason to be outspoken about the bureaucratic nature within professional running.

I don't get all the hate for Fam. What has the guy done wrong here and consistently? In other posts people rave about how he is a class act, makes time for fans, and all that. Now, people are complaining he is nothing but a whiny has-been.
I also don't understand where all the hate comes from. To me, Anthony Famiglietti sounds like one of the few credible voices in elite running. Rude, sometimes, but I prefer to listen to him than to people who drink the Nike / Adidas / Oregon Project / NYRR Kool-Aid.
We don't know if NYRR didn't offer him elite status at all (which he clearly deserves), or whether they just didn't offer him the money he felt he was due (that's a commercial decision). If it's the former, I can understand that he's pissed, and it would not be the first time that NYRR got it wrong.

A very cheap shot at NYRR which has a strict anti-drug policy.
I see what you did there.
The only proper thing for Fam to do is BANDIT the 5k, totally dust everybody else and have enough time to throw in a few pushups right before the finish.
That would be epic
USATF certified courses should always come out a little longer than 3.10 on a garmin............has to be 0.05 long (5 meters) per KM. Typically should read 3.15/3.16 on a garmin if it's legit certified (not 3.10). So I'd estimate this run would be 13:55ish on a accurately certified course- still a nice run!

The "5k" he ran this morning is a notorious short course. MIGHT be 3 miles.
That's interesting, they have used that course for several years and you are the first person I have heard say that.

Your an Idiot right? If you had 10 people wearing 10 garmins, everyone would have a different reading...
do you understand the difference between distance and displacement? Because you have it 100% backwards. The garmin takes samples of where you are at given times ( your displacement per time interval). Please take calculus one at your local community college before you spout this kind of thing again.

Oh, the fvcking delicious irony of "your an idiot".
Okay, I'm getting confused. Which one of you is actually an idiot?

That period belongs inside the quotation marks. ;)

You'll are.
Definitely not the first to think this about Big South... it's almost as bad as Cupid's Cup. Obviously Fam has serious wheels but he ran 14:21 the previous weekend. :39 difference is HUGE.

I'm sure they offer an English as a Second Language class there, too. Don't get up on your high horse when you are clearly just as dumb!
Your sentence should have read:
o you understand the difference between distance and displacement? You have it 100% backwards. The armin takes samples of where you are at given times (your displacement per time interval). Please take alculus at your local community college before you spout this kind of thing again.
Just for future reference, you should capitalize proper nouns and the first letter of the first word when you begin a sentence.
