That being said, Derrick just seems like the perfect match to train with Rupp; both have very similar strengths.

Elliott Heath, derrick's Stanford teammate is with Schumacher. Derrick ran very well training with him in college. Schumachers group also has Fernandez, Bumbalough, and Jager. Those guys are the future of the US 5k.
Since when does Centro run for Schumaker?
He's probably doing a coterm. It's a Stanford program that lets undergrads take courses towards their undergraduate and masters degrees at the same time. They usually get out in five years with both degrees. This sort of timetable would make a lot of sense with his running career.
