WISCONSIN Invite: Shelia Reid (2011) 19:59, Laura Hollander (2012) 19:33 this is just SICK! (video)

Get a clue it wasn't just one race, it was just one race you knew about as Laura Hollander has dominated all three cross country races she been in this year.

Wisconsin Invite wasnt' the first time this year she faced an athlete that is touted to be a top 10 finish at this year NCAA X and she dominated that runner earlier in the season as well.

Laura Hollander ran faster then any female collegian ever has by a large margin on the Wisconsin Invite course, beat a NCAA Cross title favorite, beat several top 10 hopefuls, and is now a legitimate NCAA Cross title contender.

You're a sad piece of work. Just because Shelia Reid dominated her competition last year doesn't mean she would do the same to Laura Hollander.

It's not as if Laura went out a few seconds faster then Shelia Reid at 3km, she was THIRTY-THREE seconds faster and closed ALMOST EQUALLY fast over the last 3km.

She didn't break the course record by 1 or 2 seconds, she broke the CR by TWENTY-SIX seconds!

Shelia Reid never faced an athlete last year like Laura Hollander this year. If the same Laura shows up for NCAA Cross it will be a 3 woman race: Laura being chased by Betsy and D'Agostino.

I'd like to say that Abbey, who Sheila beat at nationals last year, has way more upside than Laura. No one is taking anything away from what Laura did, because it was amazing, but you can't compare last year to this year with two different runners. When Laura is a 2x national champion in XC then you can start talking but until then stop with this nonsense. She ran an awesome race, made it exciting, and could possibly be greater than Sheila ever was, but until that happens lets not take away what Sheila did the past 2-3 years in XC, because that was amazing in itself just like this race was amazing for Laura and how great of a season she is having.

There is no way Hollander is going to beat (a healthy) D'Agostino at Nationals.

D'Agostino ran 15:19 in a HUGE negative split and was likely close to 15:00 shape. In between NCAAs and the Trials, she ran 4 x mile with 3 minutes rest in 4:49, 4:44, 4:41, 4:38. That is incredible.

Laura Hollander is a great new runner on the scene, but she'll be reeled in and D'Ag and Saina will battle it out.

If D'Agostino can reel in Laura then Betsy won't be in the mix. Only way two women beat Laura is she have an off day or goes out WAY too hard and slow dramatically at the end.

You seriously think Hollander is better than a healthy D'Agostino? You're delusional. And actually I do believe she did that workout since she closed in a 4:50 at Paul Short to win in a comfortable 19:58. Let's be real here. The only way D'Agostino doesn't win nationals is if she has a bad day.

What's more impressive, a guy splitting 2:05-1:48 in the mile, or a guy splitting 1:57-1:48 in the mile? Do you not understand that the smaller negative split is MORE impressive? Do you not understand that one person ran basically the same time in the second half as the other person, despite going out harder?

He never suggested Reid couldn't hsve gone out faster, he just pointed out what should be common sense, that her second split was about the same as Hollanders despite going out much slower.

Are you for real? Dibaba has averaged 4:33.9 for more than 3 miles with no rest, with no competition.
