I have read some of the threads but still don't know what FM stands for or who they are but do know its a HS team. I'm guessing you are the coach, assistant, parent or athlete (current or former). The posters are right, most don't care.
Is this the coach that says his team jogs every day and never pushes it?

I was aware of the existence of a team called FM, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to recognize "FM" as the name of said team in such a vague statement as "FM goes down." FM could be the initials of an individual runner or a team at any level. Or the thread could be about an individual or team in some other sport.
I think Saugus and Great Oak could have pulled off the win today. Both programs have a lot of depth this season and Saugus still hasn't run their A squad. Neither has La Costa Canyon or Simi Valley.
I question the OP "undefeated no more" in regards to FM.
FM has been challenged and defeated by Sirius in 2007.
Also Pandora will provide strong challenge in the future.

I'm in my twenties and from Chicago and knew exactly what school the OP meant, the names of its coaches, and even the names of some of the better runners who have recently graduated.
Any real fan of the sport has these associations...I believe the people who think FM could stand for something else, but anyone who says they're really a fan/student of the sport and still doesn't know what the initials stand for after opening the thread is either A) trolling or B) a complete moron.

This team (boys and girls) has been on fire for as long as this message board has existed. In fact their boys and/or girls team has had a top 3 finish at Nike Team Nationals each year that the event has existed, including a girls score of 27 in 2010. If you don't know who this team is, you're out of the loop. It's the equivalent of using OU or CU when speaking about college teams. There are other teams using those acronyms, but you know who they're talking about.
I live in Ohio and I know exactly who they were talking about. Anyone really connected to high school Cross Country running knows what this is about.

Three things I noticed:
1. FM was missing TWO returners from last year, Jillian Fanning and Jenna Farrell
2. Several "new faces" on their top 7 for the Manhattan Invitational
3. Another one of their runners, Hannah Smith, ran a very slow race compared to what she ran last year. Could just be a be a bad hair day, or...
I'd guess that FM's been bitten by the injury bug on 2+ of their top runners. The good news for them is that there is a lot of time before NXN to get better.

Plenty of people follow the sport more diligently than you who have no idea what "FM" stands for. Most people stop caring about high school running after they graduate and focus on collegiate/elite results. Chill out.
What this thread certainly proves is how little perspective is found within girls HS running in Upstate New York. Geez. Most of the girls need a Snickers Bar and to go out on a date.

Jenna Farrell ran in another invite and was worse than their #7 at Manhattan, per tullyrunners.com
Really, what does FM stand for? I got they are a girls HS team and they've won NXN... But what is the name of this school? Have their runners done anything after HS? Boys team any good?
Please enlighten those of us who realize girls cross country is less competitive than JV boys and really don't follow it.
Btw, having Junior High runners train with high school runners is illigal recruiting for most of the country.

Yup. Does every diehard NFL fan know all of the top high school football programs? Hell, does every NFL player know all of the top high school football programs? Of course not. So the "anyone who cares about running should know who FM is" argument is ridiculous.
Congratulations on having a great program, but let's keep things in perspective. I care about running (mostly my running). I don't care about high school girls running.
