Help me out: how can a "light year" be a unit of distance?

Light year = distance covered by Kip Litton in just under three hours

Kip hopes to run to each star in the Milky Way this year, raising funds for CF

Kip hopes to run to each galaxy in the universe next year, raising funds for MS

Kip plans to keep website of galactic races, with a few imaginary ones made up for fun

And a buzz lightyear is the distance it takes to get to infinity and beyond.

Why do people tell you to get "on" the plane when you want to get "in" the plane? Crazy! Am I right or am I right?

reasoning is he doesn't seem to be the guy to understand the concept that ones own worst enemy is oneself much less put it into a creative form such as Luke with Yoda. Not sure what you are talking about but George Lucas did write all of the starwars movies. Before he started he spoke often with philosophers like Joseph Campbell who studies universal myths. He base much of the plot line on universal human archetypal characters and stories. He simply retold it with a science fiction background.

Not a lot of very much at all in space other than near-vacuum, such that the differential from the speed in a vacuum is probably not measurable.

Also, to measure astronomical distances (in both senses of the word) you want a really fast speed because you still get stuff out there being observed at 10 Billion light-years away. If you wanted to use centimeters you get

300,000km/second x 100,000 cm/km x 3600 seconds/hour x 8760 hours/year which is 9.4608 x 10^17cm, so 10 billion light years is about 10^26cms. Now, do you remember the prefix for 8 or 9 groups of factors of 1000?

If thats the cornerstone of expansion theory, then expansion theory is for idiots. A light year is measured by the distance light travels in a vacuum in a Julian year (365.25 days), not years on a calendar.

A heavy year for me would be about 2000 miles-or just under 40 miles per week. A light year would be about 1000 miles, or 20 miles per week. A medium year would be 1500 miles, or 30 miles per week.

Different runners generally have different definitions of heavy, light and medium.

This made me laugh. I don't know if you heard or read this explanation somewhere or made it up, I'm hoping the latter is the case here. I love Star Wars guys and how invested they become in these movies.
