German looked very good. His legs had some of his old POP back. He didn't have it for a long time. Watch the videos of his freshman year- wow. 3.55.0 solo? As a true, young freshman? Jeez. And winning junior cross over Derrick and Puskedra? The guy just needs to stay healthy.
Did German change his arm swing? It looks as if his arms are not swinging as far back as they used to be, and I always felt that he wasted quite a bit of energy when he would do that. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky here. Good to see him running well so far in his first professional race.

What I saw in this race was his ability to close or gap a runner very quickly.
I believe that why he is kinda smiling coming down the stretch. He now knows that ability to create seperation or close is back. He quickly pulls away from Heath in the last 50 meters.
Now if he can stay healthy. I say yes, NIKE will make sure he remains healthy.

I think Solinsky something very similar running 1500m races into late summer. No flashy times but just getting the experience of pro meets.

You might have noticed that he won the race. That is what the sport is about believe it or not.
Obviously GF is not a world beater at his current level of fitness but it is a nice result and a good re-start to his running career.
An average runner? How many "average" runners do you know that can run 3:55 indoors or 13:25 for 5K as a freshman? Or what about high school seniors that can run 4:00 and 8:34 for the 1600/3200 within 3 hours of each other? Fail troll is fail.

First, he now has a slight forward lean, whereas at OSU he was quite upright; second, his arm carriage is different, in just the way you suggest, so that his body is no longer rocking slightly to and fro. Great to see GF running healthy and well again. With everything that he has gone through we shouldn't forget he is still just 21 years old. He has a bright future.
Is that the same track that Webb set the mile AR on or are all tracks in Belgium set up with a bunch of trees around it?

BS: the Finnish national record is 3:36 set in 1972! Sweeden is a tad slower and Norway is an amazing 3:35. It's safe to say, there are not tons of random Scandinavian dudes running 3:40 regularly.

Average, by definition, means half of runners are faster and half are slower. I'm pretty sure this does not apply to 3:40. There are not 1000's of people running these times. In fact, it's even safer to say there are only a few poster on Lets run who have EVER run that fast. Jim Spivey has posted here a few times. I think Malmo's best was about 3:40 something.
3:40 may not be an elite time right now, but it is hardly average, and it sure seemed like he had a lot more in the tank than that. He was smooth and relaxed the whole way (of course, he always looks like that). It's a promising start considering the troubles he has had the last 3 years.
The real question is why do you seemed so obsessed knocking down people rooting for a talented young runner.

Totally agree. I remember German in HS having one of the smoothest forms I have ever seen. I think injuries,and possibly less than stellar coaching set him back, plus losses maybe messed with his psyche.
That race was old German able to accelerate when he wanted to and he looked very relaxed as he pulled away from Heath (yes I think those were mainly smiles of a guy getting his mojo back). Uliimatly his place is in the 5k, but building the speed now in 1500s will make him a beast in a couple of years for that. A new pr is possible before the season ends, but wait until next year for more exciting times from this guy. He has too much pure talent and in the right hands with no injuries and strong training, expect him to be in more elite races next year.

Are you joking or just plain stupid? Nothing in the post to any rational, intelligent, human being would suggest he didn't think it was possible he could be 15 by the year he was born in. It's insane to think someone IS 15 just by guessing. If someone says "so and so is 15", that must mean they used some form of math to determine that. If you know the year and not the month, it's very stupid to assume he would be 15 especially being born in 1996 and it being late August now. If you know the year and month, it's even more stupid that you think the person is 15. Poor math any way you put it.

I agree with you guys. He also is no longer lifting his chin up and cocking his head back.
When a runner lifts his chin and cocks his head back it makes him more up right. His arm swing is the same to me. With his head and chin down he appears to have a different arm swing. If you look at the videos closely his arm swing is almost the same, it's the position of his head.
Seems to me his new coach pick up that little flaw and corrected. I really feel good things are coming his way after all the bad he has had the last three years.
