Good meet for elites but the Portland Track Festival is a flaming disaster for the sport I'm sad to say.
If Ritz waited until the last 400 and out kicked Braun and McNeil for the win then this is a pretty encouraging result. Anyone there get splits?
What a joke. Next year move the meet to Seattle The Ethiopia of US Running.

I love this. I don't know that I've ever seen this in any results before. Reminds me of in HS when my teammate and I tried to convince our coach to let us run a 2x2x1600 relay (one guy running 1st & 3rd legs, the other 2nd & 4th), since we didn't have enough guns to run 4x1600. He never let us find out, but I'm sure we would have placed 3rd in that field, which would have looked pretty cool in the results.
No offense to most the guys in the race, because they're all faster than me...but man, it'd be demoralizing to get beat by both Ritzenheins...
A bit off topic, but it looks like Ryan Vail ran in the 1500 and hit around 3:42.80. I know he's not the greatest runner out there but he has awesome range given that he's a 2:12 marathoner (I know guys like Ritz have proven they have better range but I just wanted to point this out).
What a joke of a meet. No entries. Portland Track Festival sucks. Move the meet to Eugene, the ONLY Track Town USA in America.
For all the negative comments thrown out to the meet a couple of things. First, it is a meet put on by volunteers who actually hold full time jobs, so this is a meet organized by those who truly love the sport. Second, not sure what was meant by "no entries" but there were plenty of entries and some top-notch performances. Shaheed goes sub-5 in the mile as a 63 year old, Blackmore runs 4:27 as a 50 year old, Ritz runs his 13:19, Max King shows his range.
PTF isn't trying to make Portland into Track Town USA, it is trying to give an opportunity to runners who are shut out of the Prefontaine Classic and Harry Jerome meets a place to chase a OT qualifier, or in non-Olympic years a chance to qualify for Nationals.
I'd say this to you all - contact the meet director and ask how you can help for the 2013 PTF.

Completely agree! I was at the meet and was upraised by the amount of people in the stands, the atmosphere of the meet and the quality of the facilities. No hassle getting into the meet, checking in, etc and basically accommodating in every way. I was happy I flew in and took part in the meet. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!
