Michael Granville ran 1:48 as a soph in high school, I don't know why everyone is acting like it's completely out of the question.

The word "who" is used to replace the subject of a sentence, "the do-er of an action."

The word "whom" is used to replace the object of an action. It doesn't have anything to do with a certain number of people.

So "whom" is correct in this case.
