Could not agree more. The BCS and their "strengh of schedule" BS is really making it hard for me to stay a loyal college footaball fan. It is a shame to see deserving teams not get a title shot because their conference happens to not be as strong as others.

Too much emphasis on TV Ads and ratings. If NCAA DI XC did it the BCS way, Stanford and Oregon would be the champs every year. The BCS is not sports, it's a Hollywood Fake Show.

Remember how Oregon's supposed "unstoppable" offense got pretty much stopped cold last year in the Rose Bowl against THE Ohio State University?

Cam Newton is a beast. He reminds me a lot of Jason Campbell, another Auburn product.

On a side note...Is Auburn the only university/college in America that has a school "nickname" that is different from their mascot? I know Tennessee has that stupid Davy Crockett dude or the dog "Smokey" when they are the "Volunteers", but anyone else?

The Alabama Crimson Tide has an elephant as the mascot, so no, Auburn's not even the only one in their state that does that.

ASU GUY, we'll revisit this in a month or so and I'll accept your apology. I hate Tennessee and Auburn, but to insinuate that Oregon has been playing better teams/athletes than Auburn has is ridiculous and everyone knows it.

Oregon's mascot, while it is a Duck is named "Puddles" isn't it? Or is that the old school name?

Anyways, being born and raised in Oregon, I'd like to see the Ducks with the whole enchilada.

BUT, after watching them win a multitude of ways - and especially their comeback win against Alabama - I'm thinkin' that Auburn will pretty much wear down the Ducks quickly.

At half, I'm predicting a fairly close game, within 7 points probably....but late in the 3rd, it will be apparent that Auburn has more horsepower, and will end up winning going away by around 20.

And I'm a Duck fan....hoping for a good game though. Hoping that the Ducks can fire on all cylinders. It'll be great to see two of the top Heisman candidates going at it as well. I am also hoping the Ducks can win it all - but don't see it in the cards.

So, I'll be behind the Ducks, but am predicting an Auburn win...

Yes, I think that when Oregon loses to Auburn that they will not drop below #2. Wins by Wisconsin, Stanford, and Ohio State create the top 5 as listed above.

Yeah, well this was what everyone was saying prior to last year's Rose Bowl: that Oregon (basically the same roster as this year) would roll up 50pts on Ohio State. Didn't happen. The Ducks were exposed, big time, as on offense that looks wonderful against the lame PAC 10, but when forced to play against a real defense, struggles mightily.

That "shock and awee" approach netted 19pts against the Buckeyes last year, so...

I say Auburn 41, Oregon 17.

I hate the BCS with a passion, and would have loved to see their beloved system get screwed up. I hoped my Gamecocks could be the ones to do it, but that was not to be. The SCE only plays 5 real games, 3 weak conference games, and 4 glorified scrimmages against lower division teams. Take away the scrimmages and most SCE teams drop below 0.500.

Here's an example, Florida at 7-5 and paying in a Jan 1 bowl game. These are their "wins."

How is this SEC win list impressive? It is not. It is a sham.

I guarantee that no team will score more than 40 points in this game. You heard it here first.

The SEC has crowned the last 4 National Champs. Right now, in every poll out there, there are 6 SEC teams ranked in the top 25. That's more than 20% of the teams. I just don't understand how any rational person can say that the SEC is overrated. I have to assume that anyone who says that is ignorant or just attempting to get a rise out a few folks.

It's a New Years Day 5K winner that's all. The Beauty Contest System is just that. The BCS chooses entertainment using the same critera that they use to choose American Idol talent which is who will sell more TV ads ! It's time control of college football is taken back from Hollywood and Vine, and returned to the NCAA.
