Just ran a 5 mile tempo in 29 minutes. I guess my 17:30 5k last week was soft.

You have ZERO chance to run sub 34 on 4 days a week unless you were a very talented runner back in the day. ZERO chance.
You are 47, overweight, and not willing to train very hard......go away forever please
I managed to register my name so no fooling by dropping an e
I am old, can not change that.
Working on losing weight.
I am willing to train as hard as my body will let me. I am sure if I tried to run more I would get injured. Is that a better idea?
I agree though I have pretty close to zero chance but I will try. I hope you try to achieve your goals too.

OK Ill play along....let's say you can't run more than 4 times a week (Im not really convinced.....what suggest to you (and be specific) that if you ran, say, 5-6 times a week, you would be certain to be stricken with injury? It just sounds odd. I also dont know many fat 47 year olds who run 17:30 off of almost no training. I know lots of guys that age who are quite fit and run up to 100mpw and are only marginally faster that. (17 flat) You story does not add up at all.
HOWEVER, let's assume you aren't a major loser/troll and that you would magically be beset with injury the instant you added that single day of running. If this is the case, then why not supplement your training with other cardio exercises - swimming, biking, cross country skiing, elliptical machine, etc.? Certainly you arent going to reply that if you hop into the pool you will become injured? So why not do it? You say you want to break 34, but when you were fit and younger, I might add, you ran 35:10......that's a world away from 33:XX.
You know exactly what you need to do to hit 33:XX - run more, train harder, become more focused, east better, and so on. You are looking for shortcuts, there are none.
I run one day a week, short intervals as I said on page 1, and assure you I can run a 16:46 5k. Thinking an okay 10k if I run two days a week. What this guy wants to do is very possible.
