How much are Hansons/Brooks runners getting paid?

I should have my freakin' head examined for commenting on this....

First, anyone who knows anything knows Keith and Kevin went from one store to 3 before the program started. This included making one location thrive when someone else went under at that spot. So don't tell me ONE person-with all due respect to his running and hard work ethic-was responsibe for making them sucessful.

Second, I find it funny that Kevin and Keith have been at EVERY wedding they are physically able to attend, yet some morons say how they are "pissed" if you have a girlfriend.

Third, anyone who finds 25 hours a week "a lot" should have refused the work. That is allowed, by the way. No one was EVER forced to take the job. There are some I wished I could have fired myself.

And anyone who feels these guys have ever taken something from them should email me or post a name. I don't know how else to say you're lying if you're just gonna hide.

It's one thing to disagree with how things are done here x's and o's wise, but you seem to imply that there is something done here to rip someone off. That is with all due respect bullshit, and I can't just let that slide and walk away from my computer.

I've been very fortunate over the past few years to have been invited by Kevin and Keith to speak to their team and they are some of the nicest kids I've ever met! My wife Jill and I hosted them a few years ago while they were here on behalf of the Austin Marathon/Half Marathon. We had them doing things all over the city including visiting kids at Dell Children's Hospital, they never once said no to anything we asked them to do! We need more kids like this representing distance running in our country!

No clue as to who you are DJ, but yes you may need to get your freakin' head examined, your words, not mine and yes I am kidding. I am not the poster who ruffled your feathers, but here's a few things to think about after reading your post.

You are no more important than anybody else. If some moron says that the Hansons are pissed if you have a girlfriend, correct him or her if you choose to, but why get upset over it?

The only thing remotely close to that statement is that I once heard that they can't date other Hanson runners. Maybe the poster was misinformed or heard it wrong, like the old game telephone.

He implied that he knew someone on the team or that possibly he was on the team. If he's lying, so what? Do you have a clue as to who he is? If so, call him out or let it go dude.

If he or she feels the runners aren't making enough, so what? That's the person's opinion based off what they know, or claim to know. I don't agree with that statement, but that doesn't make me right and the poster that pissed you off wrong, now does it? Do they get appearance fees? I haven't got a clue. Was he lying? Do you know? If so, call him out on it or again, let it go.

The Hanson brothers seem to be hard workers and have earned where they are now (in my humble opinion anyways), in addition to being very giving and nice guys from what I've read and heard. But your statement of 1 store to 3 before the program started, although true, is not the whole story.

Without the program and the notoriety that it brought them, I doubt the stores would be as successful as they are now. With the economy DJ, who really knows? The runners have to get some credit for that, not one runner, but all of them, women and men combined. And yes, Brian Sell definitely helped bigtime and if you can't admit that then you'd make a very bad debater:).

The store that went under didn't survive and that too is a true statement, but again not the whole story.

If you are talking about the Grosse Pointe store, the owner did not have the advantages that Kevin and Keith have. Aka, not apples to oranges.

Kevin and Keith are excellent coaches, but their success in turning it around is "partly" due to the fact that Kevin coaches high school runners and therefore has a huge number of contacts that come with it. I have no problem with it and say good for them. I'm truly glad they are prospering and using their coaching skills and contacts to help their business.

Again nothing wrong with that, but you strongly imply that one owner went under and then they magically came in and bam!, the business was successful. Yes, it was before the program started, but those athletes with the program helped it a lot and definitely increased the store traffic.

Again, sorry I don't know who you are, but I wouldn't let an implied comment like the Hansons are ripping someone off get you all that upset. Seriously, how many readers of this thread do you think actually believed that comment? No clue if the poster was a troll or not, but who cares? Your comments strongly imply that you are upset and pissed off. Maybe he was just trying to yank everyone's chain.

You can hack my comments to pieces DJ, it won't bother me in the least. I'm married with 4 kids, you can't hurt me or my feelings on your best day:))) I simply listed facts, not opinions.

Hi Dick Beardsley! Boston 1982, oh the memories. Alberto was tough, but so were you and you made that race what it was. He outsprinted you, but he didn't beat you. You don't race 26.2 miles and outkick someone by 2 seconds and say you beat them. You finished ahead of them and that's it. Well done sir and I wish you have never gotten hurt and are doing well now.

If you don't know who DJ is, then you know nothing about Hansons Running Shops. He has done more for the success of the stores than any 5 athletes and that includes Brian Sell. I guarantee he knows more than you about the Hansons. If you believe that Brian was an integral part of the business, lets see how the stores do without him.

This is off topic, but does anyine know why Christian Wagner left the group?

So what about apperance fees and prize money. Is that soley the athlete's, do the Hanson's Team get a coaching/agent cut of it, or does the team get all of it and the athletes are strictly salary?

Umm...I think you are "not very smart", that is also known as stupid by the way.

According to you, Don is someone who has worked hard and done a lot for the Hanson's, bravo. Regardless, if you were to take away his impact on leaving versus Brian Sell's, you are brain dead if you think Don would impact the store more than Brian. Your point is quite contradicting, don't ya think? The poster gets a +3 on that one.

The poster says he knows Brian Sell but doesn't know Don, think about it and I won't hold my breath for your answer.

The point he was obviously making and that flew right over your head is that Brian Sell helped to put them on the map. Now they are more well known, hence Brian leaving won't hurt the store as much as he helped them when he joined. Get it? Did I lose ya? Probably.

I don't know Don and could care less about your opinion, his, or the posters to whom you are responding, and cowardly I must add as you don't share YOUR NAME and hide at your computer desk claiming to know this guy. You don't have to be Don to know the Hansons, but maybe you do. You probably live by him or frequent the stores and he's your buddy.

Final score, the poster beat you on every point. Don never responded because he couldn't respond, that much is obvious.

I can promise you that the vast majority of the people that come into the stores do not know who Brian Sell is or that there is such a thing as the "Hansons-Brooks Distance Project." In fact, most people don't even realize that the stores are owned by two brothers and think they're part of a nation wide chain. Just because we letsrun groupies know all about the Hansons ODP does not mean your average recreational jogger or nurse who needs a good pair of shoes does.

I respect that letsrun is an anonymous forum, because it allows people to be more outspoken than they might be otherwise, but I cannot fall asleep until I clear something up. Don (DJ) does more for the success of the Hansons Running Shop than any athlete who has ever worked for the stores or run in the program. He not only manages the stores better than anyone on this messageboard could possibly understand, but he also does a stellar job at working with customers, which means more to those aforementioned hobby jogging customers than what Brian Sell's or Desi Davila's accolades. So...I'd take what he says as truth and move onto another ridiculous thread.
