Yes. Exactly. It's just not a legitimate sport. The guidelines are not clear, the rules cannot be enforced, and the objective is obscured by the fact that nobody really knows what walking is. When you try to follow such specific guidelines, it's just not worth it. The little details of the way the hips should turn and how the leg should be straightened, not to mention how to make sure that you are actually doing all those things. In running, it doesn't matter if you walk, run, crawl, or bounce on your head. If you get to the finish line first, you are the winner. Running just happens to be the best way to fulfill your potential speed at that distance. Some guy walks a 6 minute mile, and I'm not sure exactly what that means because the truth is that he probably wasn't walking. Can we please just forget about this stupid sport and focus on the fundamentals of racing?
