I can understand why W&M would want to combine the head men's and women's distance job but how are they going to manage the huge roster with just a single head? It seems like that person would be overwhelmed unless they had a couple of able assistants (and were willing to delegate)
Wondering where you guys are seeing these jobs posted? Not on NCAA site and not even on William and Mary employment site. So, how do you know they are combining programs?
The William and Mary women's program has never had a female head coach except for Kathy.

The new AD at Michigan is a strong, smart business person. Just like Gibby. I see this as an excellent hire, but WM should have paid him more for the work he was doing. Maybe they will learn now
Columbia hired Will Boylan-Pett and Elliot Blount several weeks ago.
Matt Moran would be far and away the best guy for this job. Amazing guy, loyal to his athletes everywhere he's been and has a PhD. Hope Stimson is willing to look past that he is at D3 and bring him in to interview

Everybody better relax. The reason it hasn't been announced anywhere is because WM came back with salary increase to trey to keep him. This isn't uncommon and usually only works with the best coaches. Perhaps a nice play by the Gibbys all along? Nothing is finalized either way! I know some will say that is a bogus way to go about getting a raise, but some administrators don't know what they have until he/she has one foot out the door.
To me, Gibby is a WM lifer - can't picture him anywhere else.
Alternatively....these things just take time on the bureaucratic end. He has to interview, discuss things with his wife, be offered, accept, communicate to his athletes, arrange movers, talk to W&M, go through the resignation process, move, sign papers at Michigan, be announced as hired at Michigan, then be announced as resigned at W&M.
Just a thought.
He's still listed as a coach on the William and Mary athletics website and there is no announcement on the University of Michigan home page.
I agree that these things take time, but if W&M didn't think they could keep him, Stimson probably would have had his named removed from the coaching staff roster earlier this week. It doesn't take long to delete a name and bio from a directory.
