I agree about the part with the midwest. I've been going for years now, and went to this past years race. I think that Nike XC Nationals is destroying this region and the North East. 15.49 would have got you in the 50's when I went to the midwest FL regional
I am not a Oregon fan so I don't know about the Vin Lananna program. Vin does have some in-state guys that are on the team with PR's like 9.25 in the 2mile and such. They don't run varsity nor will they. I would assume this kid is going to UO to develop in the Mile? I can't imagine in the 5k, and defiantly not in XC.
They have 5 under 4 in the mile? Most are going to be there next year, and Fleet has 3-4 more years.
Parker Stinson will be a great addition to this team, same with Brian Shrader. Maybe these 2 got some sort of money, but I highly doubt this kid did. It would be cool to wear the uniform, but not cool to never get the chance to compete for 4 years. My guess if he doesn't run for a year, he'll be going somewhere else. Oregon doesn't really need this kid.
The whole point of College is to graduate with a degree, because running pro is not easy, so I hope this kid made a good choice academically. Why didn't he go somewhere close to home? Ohio State? Michigan? Virginia? Iona? All of these school he might be able to get on the traveling squad but Oregon? Come on.
Ok-State have they recruited this year? Although i mean do they really need to. They won NCAA with out a healthy German.
Stanford will have a great squad coming back, they will no doubt give oregon another run for the Regional Title.
Good Luck to this kid, obviously the poster who made the comment about community, and vin program thinks very highly of this kid. Hopefully he made a good choice for school and not just running!
