wow, sounds like you guys got some good gifts this year.
my wife's grandmother said this as i was opening her gift, "I just opened up the drawers and cupboards and started putting them in different boxes." a review of her gifts:
-the Wow (not a sham-wow, but a knock-off)
-an old bandana, used
-an elementary school calendar
-piggy bank
-old dish towels
-teddy bear soap dispenser
but the best exchange occured when she had her copy of Glenn Beck's "The Christmas Sweater" on her lap. "I let my friend borrow it, and she wrapped it up as a gift for me. Not sure if she meant it as a joke or not." Everyone chuckles. A minute later, my wife opens her gift: A t-shirt. No big deal, right? But when she opens it, it was her college softball booster club shirt, with the year 2002 on it. "ooh, thanks grandma!" it really felt like the old grandma from the Griswold family.
But, i got a joke similar to the snuggie for ya'll. the crazy aunt decides to make blankets for everyone. So she goes and gets these fleece prints and ties the ends together for blankets. Well, she puts the print on backwards. So, grandpa now has an ABN srekal AL blanket (LA Lakers), and my bro-in-law has a CSU blanket (doctorate student at USC). But the best part was the crazy uncle who got the yvaN S.U. (U.S. Navy blanket)--he can't read so he didn't notice the backwards lettering.
kids: lesson learned. When you get married, you marry the family too.
