Seriously, they look pretty good. My wife has the real thing, but that's only because we didn't know any better 20 years ago. If I knew then what I know now, Zirconia or some other very inexpensive ring would have been it, and she would have agreed too.
Because I was a poor college student with a part-time job, the rings I bought her cost about 70% of what I made in the previous YEAR. Not really a good idea, but I wasn't born financially savvy...I learned it, and when I bought those rings, I hadn't yet learned it.
It's not irresponsible to but diamonds for the rings, but just don't let the diamond industry influence what you buy (I'm not the first one here saying that). We had a thread once upon a time about a woman wanting to get a ring for 2 months of her boyfriend's $400,000 salary. That's crap. You can get a very nice ring set for way less than that.
