as far as all the dogging on pullman as a horrible place to live i disagree. Just cause you ain't in a big city doesn't mean it's a horrible place to live. In fact the quiter the better imo, especially since I've had to deal with citys my whole life. As far as Seattle being a great place to live. It's true. But only if you're here during the summer. And only if you can dodge all the fags and hell bound athiests
Tyson will be a great college coach and will STAY at Gonzaga to build the program to national quality. Tyson is a competitor who hates to lose and loves to run. He is an amazing recruiter. The Gonzaga kids listen to what he says and are learning how to be real runners. The recruiting class this year while not "blue chip" is very very solid. Gonzaga will beat WSU next year if not this year. Tyson will be offered the job but will TURN IT DOWN to finish what he started.

those times are amazing in comparison with how those guys ran during xc. i competed against gonzaga during xc and track last year and their preformances were almost night and day. tyson is doing a good job there, he just didnt have much to work with
Obviously, getting Rob Connor would be huge, but I doubt he would make that leap. He's got a real good thing going at Portland right now. WSU has focused on sprints of late and has had some success in the Pac-10's there.
Drake was doing a nice job building up the program. It's not on Oregon's level and won't be because UO is pumping $$$ into their track and X-C like no other program in the nation. That said, there are some great training areas around Pullman and on the Palouse, lots of country backroads and Moscow Mountain not far away. I've trained on all of it and found them excellent. You can have a solid X-C program at WSU if done right.
I know the name Pete Julian, but am unfamiliar with what he's done in coaching. I would say no shot at Connor, Brad Hudson, or even Tyson, who is Spokane through and through now and has found a fine niche at Gonzaga.
Who are some of the top assistants or mid-major guys out there who would consider WSU? Does anyone know?

From my understanding this was in the works since late May/ early June. I would assume that WSU starting looking behind the scenes about that time.

Tyson has very little athletic money but he is doing the best he can with what he has. What Gonzaga has going for it is that it is small private catholic school. Though it does not have state funding, im am willing to bet they have a very good endowment, and offer substantial merit based scholarships. Coaches can make recommendations for such scholarships for recruits. remember that before Tyson the GU coach was a high school teacher who volunteered on the side.
for those not in the know. Julian put on the USAXC meet in Boulder a few years back, which went over very well. Metro was basically a nothing team until Julian turned them into a top 10 team in DII. Considering CO has Mines, Adams and Western all of which are way better areas to train than downtown Denver (right next to Pepsi Center, I think he has done a fine job. best of Luck to Julian at WSU
