First of all, this is not a white message board. Second, please list an elite American distance runner who don't get drug tested all year long? Of course in America we have our cheaters too, no one is saying otherwise.

This is one of the most racist threads to appear on this site. To give a blanket statement that a particular country is nothing more than cheaters and to name as many as possible is deplorable at best.

There is only 1 other 3:43 runner, and he was someone who ran 3:43 and broke the 1000m record (probably one of the best in the books) at the age of 20, despite not having broken 1:44 for 800m.

He is then dropped by his national team from the 2001 World Champs at very short notice, and retires (due to the effects of a car crash) at the age of 22 in 2002; just as EPO testing cpmes into effect!

In addition I have been told rumours about a major cover up at the 2000 Olympics.

Of course, nothing there sounds suspicious at all, does it?

I would be very surprised if anyone runs a legitimate 3:43 for at least the next 10 years.

Lol seems to be a belgian. The problem with athletics in belgium is that most of the flamish guys who are in the top vlaanderen are juiced.

As an example, there was a guy who had hard time to go under 8' for 3000m but at Heusden won the race by beating runners who had as PB under 13'.

Look at the result of Heusden and you will surprised to see a lot of flamish runners beating their record and manage to qualify for the championships.

Why is it racist to examine simple facts? If someone wants to look to all the elite runners that have tested positive and break it down by nationality, so a comparison can be made by nation, how is that racist? Some of you people need to take your politically correct skirts off.

Lots of Russians have tested positive too. Would it be racist to start a thread listing all known Russian drug cheats?

Where do you get this information from? How much time have you spent with American elites?

I spent the bulk of my post-collegiate career training with American elites and sub elites, every level from Olympians and World Champs qualifiers to 3:45, 13:50 and 28:45 type guys. Everyone who met the USADA standards for testing was tested frequently. I'm not sure exactly what they are, but I believe it's anyone who has finished top 8 at the USA meet withing a certain amount of time, or finished with a certain USA/World ranking. And, even though the testing was "random", it's funny how all the the top guys I ever knew couldn't go a month without being tested, and the lower levels of these ranks might go a little longer between testing. Also, there is testing at most major competitions.

Point being, no American on the World level goes a year without being tested. Now, I have no idea how often Moroccans go between tests, and I have no reason to disbelieve you. However, as has been mentioned many times, lots of dirty athletes test clean over and over again and that goes for all athletes American, European, Asian, or African.

I will say though, that I have a lot of faith in the current group of American elites, partially because I know some of them and what they do on a day to day basis, but also because I have a hard time believing that our top guys are using and still losing as consistently as they are. I also am pretty sure that there is at least one big American name using, (don't know who), I might be surprised if I found out who it is and I might not be.

Naming drug cheats from a country is not racist, especially when that country has a centralized sports program (meaning they likly all do similar stuff).

Note for one, that Guerrouj, contrary to the above post about Berbers being 10k-marathon guys, is Berber. Hes Rifi and you can tell by his name. Others like Ramzi I am not sure, perhaps Arab. So Arab American man, stop getting all wound up about this. Why are Maghrebi runners good but nobody good ever comes from KSA or Egypt? Because its mostly the berber genes (and andalusian) that make a fast runner.

But everyone knows berbers as a people are ones to find ways to bend rules and get what they want, not just in sports.

Because it is much easier to sidestep any possible correlation or truth to a statement by pulling the racism card.

I take it you don't understand the difference between "nationality" and "race." Accusing some of cheating simply because he comes from Morocco is wrong, but it is no more racist than accusing someone of cheating because they come from Russia (long history of cheating) or the USA (we've had quite a few cheaters, and there's a lot of money here to pay for it). The same goes for making a list of cheaters from a certain nation. If you were to make a list of cheats from the USA, for example, you'd end up with a nice mix of whites, blacks, Hispanics, and probably a few other races. Racism would be making a list of Arab, black, or white cheaters.

You have no understanding of the dynamic nature of semantics, do you. Even though 'racism' has the word 'race', it is not exclusive to hatred towards a particular race. If someone says, "I hate Chinese people", no one will call that person a nationalist. It will be considered a racist statement even though China is a country, not a race.
