The 3k and 200 were actually voted and approved by the coaches at the convention in 2008. The agenda of certain coaches who pushed the NCAA DIII committee to add the multi event, is what got done. The multi event will add an event, but no one will double really, which wont help deepen the fields very much.
word on the street is Kosgei isn't even competing indoors this year. What does everyone predict now?
Pretty shocked at the lack of love for the UAA milers on here. Harvey and Meade were both top 20 in XC and are more mid distance types on the track. Zach Maher came on strong to make all america in xc and opened up at 4:11 in the mile indoors. That conf. race should be incredible and at least one of the three should contend for a top 3 spot in the final at nat's.
I think people forget that Harvey was 4th last year in the mile indoors- he didn't make it out of the heats at outdoors, though.
The Northeast, though, with the two Cortland guys, chaffee, and mcpherson, looks to be a pretty strong mid-distance region. Then there's Kosgey, from Williams, who was an XC all-american and ran 1:52 in the 800 last year. He could probably through down a dirty mile.
Someone said they heard Kosgie from Hamilton isnt running indoor, true or bull? Can someone confirm this. He hasnt raced yet, which is weird since they love to race him to death and get all their full scholarship worth out of him. Is he hurt, go home and come back with malaria? just studying really hard?

Well they certainly don't try and "get their full scholarship worth out of him" since they do not provide athletic scholarships.
Kosgie is not running indoor track this year. After XC nationals he took a good amount of time off and is just starting to train now. He is looking to train hard and be unstoppable come outdoor track.
When one does not pay a single dime to go to school, thats called being on scholarship, not matter what you want to call it or slice it.
So why is he not running indoor? Full 5th year?? Got XC from freshman year.. Is he academically eligible?
Possible "red-shirt", to come back for 5th year? NO he's not on scholarship.

No, it is not an athletic scholarship. If he quit the team, he would still receive the same amount of financial aid. Schools like Hamilton (Williams, Amherst, Bowdoin, etc.) meet 100% of demonstrated financial need, and that has nothing to do with whether or not a student is playing a sport.

He's running the 800 and mile this weekend at the Class of'32 meet. (at Colgate) He's seeded at 4:08 and 1:52 I believe.
I heard Kosgei signed a professional contract with Nike.

I saw Kosgei in street clothes with the Hamilton team at the RIT Invitational.
This is going to seem kind of random but is there a video of last year's women's 5k anywhere? Or for anyone who was there, a description of how it played out?
Should be a great Women's DMR this friday up in New York at the New Balance Invitational? Any predictions? Brandeis and Johns Hopkins the lone two d3 schools to make the field.
