Richard,
I don't think this isn't your area of expertise but what is considered elite at this race as far as entries and travel money? I looked at the website and couldn't find anything about it.
I am, by no means, elite but I have run times that are probably good enough to get a comped entry: 46:44 on a USATF certified course solo from the gun this past November. I am planning on making the trip and just getting dragged to a solid PR and enjoying Florida for a while and was wondering what kind of help might be available since there seems to be a large pocket book.
Way to be presumptuous about getting a comped entry. Pay your own way.

Since the trip for me would be pretty far, limiting my expenses would seem to make sense. Also, with an elite entry, I wouldn't be forced to start in the back of the pack next to slow pricks like you.
This was not a comprehensive list.
As a matter of fact, Boulder Running Company will compete and have already booked their flights.
Run Ohio will also be fielding a team.
Matt Downin's new team (name escapes me) will be here as well.
We could end up with as many as 20 teams for both men and women, but only have the budget to provide travel for a handful (unfortunately)
As a matter of fact, I am the contact for elite runners and the one juggling the budget.
We have a total elite budget of $105,000
$85,000 of which is prize money and $20,000 for travel.
This wil allow us to house about 30 men and 30 women and buy about 40 plane tickets.
Certain competitive teams have been alloted 3 tickets each for men and women.
The cut off for a comped plane ticket is about 28:30 10k for men and 33:00 10k for women.
Any male capable of running under 47:00 or female under 53:00 will have their entry comped.
We think our combined prize money/travel policy is as fair as any road race in the country.
We hope that any elite runner can find a way here and we will attempt to house and fly as many as possible !
Richard (and/or David Monti), i noticed on the NYRR website the US 8km is listed for the 14th. isn't that the date of your race, and is the nyrr planning on adjusting back (like the 21st) or in front of gate river?? great to hear about the team thing, looking forward to it.
-cold in NY-
They are usually the week after us.
Good point.
I am not sure.
There is no NYRR 8k this year.
not according to this link:

david monti, care to comment on this? I'll bet you're reading this thread :)
Meb's gonna win his 7th Gate River Run in Jax on March 14th.
Dathan 2nd
Abdi 3rd
Hartmann 4th
Carlson 5th
Any other predictions?
Unfortunately, Meb abd Abdi have both scratched.
I would add .....
Jorge Torres (has run 27:42 for 10,000)
Tim Nelson, (2nd place to Meb - 1 second back - at XC Trials)
James Carney (27:43 10,000 last year)
Ed Moran (also 27:43 10,000 las t year)
Anthony Famiglietti (27:37 for 10,000)
Dan Browne (27:38 for 10,000)
Fasil Bizuneh, Sean Quigley, Brett Gotcher (beat carlson at Houston) and Ian Dobson (2008 Olympian at 5,000) will also be tough.
Richard,
I am excited about coming up for the team competition. As a spectator will I be able to tell the teams apart? Do they have special uniforms or will it be a cluster---- with guys wearing different uniforms but representing the same team?

Some will - such as McMillan Elite - but many have shoe sponsors who prohibit them from running in anything but their "shoe jersey" - so no - they will not be uniform (no pun intended)
I guess you need to start somewhere but this does nothing for us fans. Even in the Pro Bowl where athletes wear their team helmets, they wear matching jerseys. Hopefully you can tweak this excellent concept wear it makes sense to the fans.

If you are scoring Carlson with Mcmillan then they will NOT be wearing the same uniforms either.
