I would assume that anyone at 101 that is planning doing a marathon and completed a half the year before would look a bit younger and be a bit more mobile than your typical 101 year old wouldn't you think?

40 years younger?
can you think of ANY reasonable explanation for why he wont tell anyone his real 1st name or show his birth certificate? (other than the obvious one).

17 children? Where are they?
I'm not going to call him a liar, but the dude is very suspicious. I loved when he claimed it was normal to have 17 kids in 'those days'. Has there been a single period in recorded history when the average woman had 17 kids, let alone the 1920's and 30's? According to the 1930 U.S census, 6.1 percent of families had 8 or more people, while 60+ percent had 2-5 members.
This man was 101 when this picture was taken and competed in the Penn Relays 100m that year and for two more years.
a few comments...
bet he could show a birth certificate
probably was willing to give out his complete, real name
was running the 100m not the marathon
looks very good for 101, but is obviously quite old
now buster on the other hand...
Here's a Buster training video:
I'm guessing that the plumbing company put this guy up to this to get publicity awhile back, and Mr. Buster has so enjoyed the fame that he's taking it to new levels. It will be interesting to see how long until this thing falls apart, and who and how old Buster really is. I find this whole thing amusing on many levels.
Can we cut Buster open and count his rings?
He doesn't have any legitimate defenders.
You would think some Brit. with access to public records
would come out to the press to defend him if they had just done some simple checks of his background.
Seems everyone in the press or government is suspiciously silent on the matter.
Am I the only one who thinks he has a resemblance to Fidel Castro?
You know what? If he won't give out his real first name or any other uniquely identifying information, it may be very difficult to determine who he is to even check his records. His last name is very common, too, making it even more difficult. I do agree with Yep on one thing - some members of the media have to be looking the other way on this and know he's pulling a fast one. Or else the media is even more stupid than I thought... and I think most of them are really pretty stupid. This is a pretty brilliant scam on Buster's part so far, I have to give him that.
They've got to know it's a fraud. This thing plays out like something from Monty Python.
I have to believe this guy is completely full of it. When someone comes out with incredible claims that appear to defy what is possible, the onus is on them to provide proof.
And for those of you who disagree, I would like to let you all know that in reality I am a three year old posting this. Fortunately, I am a pretty incredible prodigy. Sure, some smartass is going to say, "oh, i best if we saw a picture of you it would be obvious you are older." Well, I have been diagnosed with progeria, a super-accelerated aging disease. So, I look like an adult.
This company is getting their money's worth in publicity.
They have 22 stories on Buster on their website.
Wow, Paul. That's a shi tload of Buster ! That plumbing company is really pimping out Buster, no doubt about it. (Hey, on that one picture, is that Elliot Spitzer in the background waving Benjamins? Wow. He really is into the kink.)
Here is a real 100 year old man:
"I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!"
Until Guinness or the London Marathon comes forward to confirm Buster's age I think these people have a better chance of making it into the Book of World Records.

Want to try Buster's pace?
He did his half marathon at a 23:52 per mile pace.
That's 14:50 per kilometer or if you tried that pace doing one lap around a standard 400 meter track it would take you 5:56.
It's pure hype on the CNN news report to show him jogging along the Thames when all he's done in his two recorded races was walk.
Wow, that Pimlico Plumbing company is really a one call does it all kind of operation...
Plumbing
Drains
Electrics
Appliances
Carpentry
Roofing
Building
And they seem to be on TV one way or another all the time. No wonder they can afford to hire a big time runner like Buster to represent them. Puts our plumbing companies here in the states to shame.

Yes, but you're forgetting the beer and cigarette breaks. So his actual running times are probably more like a 20:00 per mile pace.
