you should have to register to post on the message boards. Most of the time the stupid posters are the ones that are not registered.

Lunk head,
I'm not talking about sales today, I'm talking about the reaction to the change, how it became a punchline and the market share they lost.
Here you go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Coke
wow, pretty interesting history there.
i like the part how the "new coke" was liked better and sold better than the original coke, but that people from the south were upset and demanded a change.
Can you do something with the home page? The 3-column format you've been using for years is just too cluttered.
Thanks.
Do not change the message board, the low key, low tech unclutteredness of it makes it great. No emoticons, and registration is a waste of time, and dividing the board into running and non running boards is a waste too. people go to one board and that's it.
If they dont like a thread then they wont read or react to it.
The ONLY think that I'd like to see is the ability to edit your post, that would cut down on some of the type o's and spelling debates.
I like to read the interviews with the top dogs and see how they train, and what they think about before and during competion.
Just keep doing what you are doing. This site is great.
Give the MODS total carte blanche to NUKE all threads that have nothing to do with running.
More links to sites such as JuanJoseMartinez', which has a plethora of great videos and photo imagery, would be marvelous.
Other than that keep on truckin'...
I WANT TO SEE ORGANIZED CATEGORIES FOR DIFFERENT TOPICS ON RUNNING

Live coverage of races would be amazing
i agree with someone above that the ability of a registered user to rate another registered poster would be useful... but only if, by clicking on the handle, you could also call up a search of all the topics they've posted to.
that's far better than mandatory registration.
an edit function would be nice, but not really vital. it's been to my experience that boards that allow editing have threads that are hard to follow, as users will sometimes edit their posts to change the substance of their arguments. cheap.
RSS feeds for:
(1) Individual Posters. I would love to receive all the posts by my favorite posters (Renato, Malmo, etc.) in Google Reader as opposed to sifting through all threads manually hoping to find one of their gems of wisdom. This would be HUGE.
(2) Individual threads. It would be much easier to receive all new posts for my favorite ongoing threads (for ex, the sports hernia thread) in Google Reader.
Here's a little food for thought for all of you idiots who call themselves "serious" posters who want to "require registration" and split the message board to separate "serious running topics from all the crap".
I give you the future of letsrun:
A ban on TxRunnerGirl
I don't think that registration should be mandatory. However, I do think that the following may be an idea worth considering...
Leave the Forum the way it is, except give the option to the OP if all posts should be from registered users. This would include the OP, of course.
I believe this would show the moderators just how popular, or unpopular, mandatory registration would be as a whole. If no one wants to contribute while putting their name on the line, those type of posts requiring registration will disappear and life at letsrun will continue.
Threads not requiring registration would still be allowed during this time.
It's merely an experiment. No, I don't know how much work would be involved in setting it up "just to experiment," but I figured I'd throw it out there.
Now, changes? I like lists and historical stats. How about permanent links to Letsrun created lists or to other pages containing said data... (Eg., the 1500+ marathon list, season bests, US bests, World Bests, and so on for any/all events...)
phpBB for the message board would be nice. The biggest turn-off for me on this site is the layout of the message board. It just seems too cluttered. There's no organization and it looks very unprofessional.
Registration should be required to post, but guests should be allowed to read the board without registering.
Leave the message board alone! Just fix it so it doesn't crash every time there is a race going on and people are posting live updates.
The front page could use some serious work. I don't even know where to begin. It doesn't really matter though as long as you don't screw up the message board.
You should definitely add a Wiki that people can fvck with somewhere on the front page. It can go whereever the users decide...just like the message board.
Hire an editor, but don't change anything else.
good running videos, especially your favorites. videos that would be inspirational to watch before a run. i've been looking all over for the tergat/ramaala NYC marathon finish from 2005...
umm, i like the suggestions and new ideas...
but, maybe a few of us would like to see some nude pictures of the most popular female runner that posts on letsrun, txRUNNERgirl...
naked chics...oops, wrong website
