What About Requiring Registration But Allowing People to Post Under Various Names?

I believe wejo needs to add the provisio that the moderators notify him when and who they ban. Big egos need to be kept in check. It is the Johnson Bros board, theirs and theirs alone, not the moderators.

This would disqualify a lot of posters (that's a joke, but we have no winky-smily faces here to give my message "tone"), but in general, I think your suggestion would improve the board.

I'm not sure I would like to see the board broken up by topics. I know that many other sites do it that way, but part of the fun of Letsrun is going to the board and finding a wide array of topics. On other boards (all right, I admit I stray from here on occasion) I usually only check one or two of the categories, fully realizing that I may be missing some good stuff, but not having the time or desire to sift through 5-10 separate forums.

Yes, subforums would work okay, and the registration idea is pretty cool too. But we do need to keep the good trolls and the hilarious posts of several of our favorites.

I grudgingly agree that it has gotten to the point where this needs to happen.

I like the open registration idea Wejo. Every once and a while I want to add a comment that no one will come after me for posting. So being able to use a second alias would be fine by me.

I would be very concerned about giving the Mods any information. The mods have had huge ego's and done a very poor job. I have been banned many times and never got a reason other then Cox.net was causing problems. One time I was on vacation and came home to find out I was banned. If giving people like Flagpole any information or more power I would ask you not to do it.

The misinformation out there never ceases to amaze me. I do not know Flagpole Willy, he is not a moderator, I'm not sure what else I need to say.

Currently for us to ban someone we generally have to resort to banning the whole Ip. So yes, Cox cable would get banned. I've been banned myself for this reason.

And I totally support good trolling. Some of the best posts I bet were started by trolls. That is beauty of it.

this will not accomplish what you want. it takes minimal time to set up a gmail or hotmail account and you still have no idea who the person is.

you WILL decrease trafiic because there are people who will not register. i will NOT register to post on a message board and would not give a real email if i did. and i wont.

there is no way i am alone on this.

I like the original idea. Anonymity provides some raw, blunt posts. There is an entertainment value to this board that the anonymity helps provide. Having one handle like other boards will cause it to be like other boards... boring and overly civil.

Awww, don't change the present format, please! Half the humor is in the names people choose to go with their postings. And the "report post" feature makes it self-policing.

I can see that a search function for injuries, training, etc. might make sense, but keep the main board and don't require registration.

This is a great idea, please do it.

Better still, when someone posts something offensive, porn links, or anything ban-worthy, post their IP address.

I don't get emailed by trolls. Hounding is still hounding. Letsrun suffers because of it.
