Parks might have went to Nat's, but AU had Jaime Juila-Perez a few seconds off of Parks. He was next to go to nat's. AU's top returning guy has a shot. Post has no one. Plus, they're returning all but Jaime and probably getting recruits. They're a team to watch out for.
After looking at track results, looks like Jaime beat Parks a number of times on the track outdoors. Conferences and had better times.
We are getting a couple great new runners and all the returns are stepping up their game it is sad to see that C.W. Post is losing thier Track. So many teams deserve thier shot I am deeply sorry for all their incoming freshmens that had the hope to run for a great team. And we are a team to watch out for. So come XC and track watch out for us. Again sympathy for those runners affected.
I was disappointed but not surprised to learn of the END of the Post Track program as in actuality it (the end) began in 1973 when we won the CTC and the Met IC's beating all the D1 teams handily and the acting AD, Lax coach, wiped out our recruiting budget and operating budget in one swoop. Some may recall that I resigned in protest after 6 glorious years with our team having placed 2nd and 3rd at the College Division NCAAs, won the conference title 5 years in a row and placed 3rd at the D1 IC4A championship behind Villanova and Maryland. To say the least we were at the top of our game, had the best team in the Met area and many All Americans. Recruiting had been easy as all of the LI great athletes and many from out of state as well wanted to be with us but the budget cuts wiped us out!! Al Dawson and Vin Lananna tried to save the program to no avail.Vin has gone on to a great career now at Oregon but the football mentality has won again.... no $$ for track but MORE SCHOLARSHIPS for football... how did that add up??
COACH ROY CHERNOCK.... CWP - 1967 - 1973
PS.. FYI - NCAA CD Champions -Stonitsch CC & TF-3times
Wevurski - Shot Put... What has FB ever accopmplished other than get blown away by 60+ points in the boardwalk bowl in their NCAA first round!!
The AD is the football coach?
Guys and Gals that should have been a major RED flag.
I ran for Ron Stonitsch at Vassar, and I can say that he loved that school and that program. It's amazing how many long bus trips he could fill with stories of his college teammates and races. It's a shame to see such a sucessful and historic program go.
And by "that school," I mean Post, not Vassar (although I have no doubt he loves Vassar too). Yeah, I have to start phrasing things better.
