Let's not forget that Mottram is peaking now, as it is summer in Australia; and Webb's ultimate success is NOT in the mile. Remember, he's run a friggin 27:40 10k +/- for cryin out loud.
Hoping you're not serious.
Involve yourself in the sport before making claims that make yourself look like an utter ass.
Before tonight Mottram had been on the track for all of 3000m since World Cup last year ... the 3000m he ran in Boston last weekend! This has been mentioned in numerous articles in the last week but even if you missed them anyone who knows anything about the sport and about Mottram/Bideau's approach knows they've been in Falls Creek getting strong and bashing out the kilometres.
Last year was a bit anomalous with the biggest race of the year coming in March. Mottram was super-ready then and has said it himself that he struggled toward the end of last season, running on fumes a bit, before getting back in touch with the strength work and scalping Bekele in Athens. Last year's unique situation aside, Mottram has had zero consistency issues. No one's trajectory is as steep as his right now and he'll be in the mix come Osaka.
Again, none of this is inside information. All of it can be gleaned from paying attention. Please do this in the future instead of making uninformed posts.
