UGA's coach... hahaha
The Dizzle gets my vote.
I agree with two posters above;
1. Louie Q.
2. Amy Lia's coach. A 5:05 miler in HS to NCAA champion as a soph.

If you meant biggest dork then I second the Vigilante Post. Otherwise he has been coaching 7 years and has not had near the success of another coach in his era. So no Vigilante is not the best and yes he is a huge nerd.
Vig is not a dork. He is a total hard guy. Didn't you see that lumberjack shirt and stocking hat he had on at nationals?
Vig is WAY overrated!
I am going to throw out Greg McMIllan - no huge names yet, but he is the only one that is pushing new training theories and programs. Plus, how many of you have used the Calculator on his site - nearly every runner I talk to checks it out at some point.
The Dude is a dork. I've seen him operate at the clubs and wow he is a dork.
Greg McMillan = stolen Jack Daniels charts
Hartman at UGA for both men and women. The talent level compared to the results is outstanding. He has taken average talent and made them great. The girls team that finished 15th at NCAA's this year did not have one single girl who broke 11:00 in the 3200 in HS. I think at A&M he had a mens team place in the top 20 that had a bunch of 9:30 type guys. When he gets a chance to work with some talent, he will produce some big results.
If you only knew!!!
Sorry but high school time does not equal talent. Hartman was handed a young but extremely good crew when the guy everyone hates on here left Georgia - Dan Waters.
So, Hartman did not do great things with them THREE years later? Also, what he did at UTSA was incredible, was he handed that? What about at Texas A&M, was he handed that? He has taken teams to the NCAA's on a regular basis where in most cases these teams had never been there before or it had been a long time. Has he gotten lucky or handed a great crew every single time? What other coach has taken teams to NCAA's with three different schools?

How old is he? Sounds like he's been around, if he's already coached at 3 schools. Does he qualify as 'young'?
Vig's Texas squad was top 10 at nc's for 2 straight years, right? Plus, the 1500 champ and a few other qualifiers. Not bad for what, 5 or so years at the program after starting as an UNPAID assistant coach? He might not be the best young coach, but he's pretty good.
I think they are about the same age, actually. When Hartman was at Texas A&M, they used to beat Texas with a lot less talent all the time. Vig is doing a great job at Texas, there is no doubt. He is one of the young up and coming coaches. Again, turn Hartman loose with some scholarship money for the men and see what happens.
On the men's side Hartman has taken a UGA team that use to go to nationals every year and turned them into a team that is barely the best in the state. Since getting there Ian has not developed anymore, people are shitting the bed thinking that its great that Riley Miler improved 5 or 6 seconds in 2 years. Hartman sucks, UGA's men are on the decline
why is no one jumping at the Emporia GA's??? They are great coaches!!!
Ian has not developed? Did he not run 14:30 his freshman year then 14:00 his first year under Hartman? Seems like he has developed. He did red-shirt last year. A team that goes to Nationals every year? They went once with Waters, then once with Hartman, that is two years. When was the last time they went before 2004? Also, they were recruiting Kenyans. Was there not some shady recruiting going on with those Kenyans? So Hartman does not want to pay for Kenyans and he is being criticized? Hartman had teams in the top 25 at UTSA, Texas A&M and Georgia. If a coach would give some money to Hartman then they would have a top 5 team at Nationals. Sam Gillespie was a 9:40 3200 guy in HS who ran 9:03 in the steeple last year for UGA. That is not bad. Andrew Cook was a 9:32 3200 guy in HS who ran 14:10 and 29:10 at A&M. The list goes on and on of average HS kids who have developed under Hartman. Is he the best? No. Is he good? Yes.
