why should a guy who pretty much blew half of his races this year look like a stud? i guess you forgot how he got demolished at London or how he finished 15th and 17th in 1500m races midseason - races which didn't go out all that fast. yeah i know he took it with 1200 to go - but my point was he still lost. it doesn't matter if he took the lead. here was a race that wasn't rabbitted and was at a pace he was used to - according to his quote he would have won right? clearly hedid not. you know this.aside from the world cup victory he has nothing he can point to to support that quote. and it really doesn't matter how much of the race he led, this isn't what is debated here, it's whether he can actually win in non-rabbitted situations time in and time out. given his record - it is a resounding NO.

Jesus, Mottram can't win with you can he? AT CWG it was HE who took the pace in the last 1200 only to have Choge burn him at the end. At the World Cup Mottram led a significant part of the race- over 1km. That is hardly kicking by in the last lap.
No excuses are valid. If Bekele wasn't right he shouldn't have run, and since he did run he has no right to claim that he was sick. His quote after the race said it all- 'It's hard without pacemakers'. Mottram claimed a massive scalp and it made a cocky guy even cockier, but I have no problems with that. If it stops distance running from dying at the hands of races filled with Africans that people in Western countries can't relate to then it's great for the sport. He's made the comments and now I want to see him back it up.
