Scenic park 10 miler let her run 2 weeks ago and she won. She set the course record too in a time of 52:41. I wish they pushed/dragged her off the course. That would of been funny as shit to see first hand. Beat it bitch!!! Drug cheats are welcomed in my eyes too, I'm happy the race directors did what they did!!! But is it legal if she paided can she sue?

If Elite Racing contracted with the city of Philadelphia for the protected use of the roads for the race, then for that morning they wouldn't be "public" roads so she wouldn't have "free and clear" rights to run on them.

I'm glad the race did something like this. I agree completely, once a drug cheat, always a cheat. I don't know whether they can legally or not refuse her entry in the race, but it seems they certainly could say that any convicted drug cheat is ineligible for any prize money ever again in their race. I doubt she'd even bother running if there was no possiblity of prize money. My guess is the race can deny anyone even entry into the race as long as it's not because of that person's race, sex, or other membership in a protected class. Maybe other races will follow this race's example.

I'm not knocking what the race directors did in Philly, but I'm curious whether they would do something like this if it was Uta Pippig or Mary Slaney trying to get in their race instead of a 30-year-old Moroccan?

Kudos to Elite Racing for taking the stand....cuz if they did NOT do something, it would be a PR nightmare (and possibly cause trouble trying to recruit other Elites if they did NOT take a stand) but imagine, she takes the lead, on TV the whole time, wins the race, and of course then everyone on LetsRun would bark about how can they let a drug cheat run and win....

Please read IAAF rule 30, which applies to all sanctioned events under IAAF, hence USATF sanctioned race like Philladephia Half Marathon. Also, common sense dictates that if the IAAF system of anti doping caugh the person (Asmae) and she served her period of ineligibility, then she by compliance and testing under the IAAF doping code, then she has the right to compete internationally in a governed competition (not right to be invited or paid appearance money, but to compete, yes)!

Also, I would refer you to IAAF rule 40.10, 40.11, and 40.12 regarding reinstatement testing and full spectrum testing, which Asmae likely did not do being she is Moroccan (does not maintain proper doping controls on the athletes). This is where she could be stopped by the rules from competing. Not allowing her to run if she paid her fee and the race is sanctioned by USATF could hurt both Elite Racing and USATF based on the accepted rules of the IAAF and USATF for records, course protocal, doping control, etc. How can you catch a drug cheat by IAAF rules and disallow them under the sames rules the oppritunity to return to return competition if they are now in compliance with the rules? Elite Racing did what many feel is right, but injusticed an athlete. Why not stop all of Pippig's husband's athlete from competing at the Major Marathons, oh, Kenya does not have true drug testing.

It is difficult to punish Asmae for life when she is open about what she does and so many others are not tested like Americans. Elite Racing is saying that drug testing is perfect and they have a zero tolerance policy, so Elite Racing should not be IAAF sanctioned or USATF sanctioned and should become self governing, so they can have their own rules. Do not invite her and require the testing protocol documentation for reinstatement and a letter from her federation. Follow the rules because keeping someone out of the race who is once a cheater protects those cheating in the race (who are not identified as of yet) that is all. Lastly, by taking what Catlin says to heart, remember 9 athlete in Europe have now won arbitrations against the EPO test, which in a published study by Dr. Hans Heid has been found to be invalid. How would if feel if you were the one who was positive to EPO and did not do it? It is possible.

Do not take me as siding with Asmae, I applaud Elite Racing for their actions, but they already know they will have a court battle over this one. The IAAF Rule are on the website, but not able to be copied, so that is why no cut and paste.

Just how is PDR "sanctioned" by either IAAF or USATF?
